if someone goes and crushes food and booze at rough ridin' bourbon and baker and reports back with an actual review I will pay for the entire thing (nope, but do it anyway you idiots it looks great!)

I had a couple of drinks there on Friday night. Really cool atmosphere...Definitely a postgrad/townie type of vibe.

I'm not much of a whiskey or bourbon drinker, but as their name would suggest they had a very extensive list...roughly 50-60 types. Ranged from well whiskey (~$5-$6) to some pretty elite looking stuff that ran about $35 a glass. Not a lot of beer on tap, but they have several bottled beers that the gE'ers from the Beer Connoisuer thread would appreciate.

Menu looked pretty amazing as well. I didn't eat but some friends I was with did. A bulk of their menu was small plates comprised of Southern/soul food type dishes - chicken and waffles, sliders, po boys,  deviled eggs ( :Yuck:), and cheesy grits. Also had a entree menu but I didn't see anyone order off it since it was about 10:30. I recall there being a couple of seafood dishes on there.

That's the best I can do...I got a little pak'd Friday night so some of the details escape me. I do suggest get there early as its not the biggest place in the world. There was a little bit of a wait to get a table and there's not a lot of SRO space. Overall I give it

nice review TC

powercat grill- better than expected based on previous reviews. 4 dollar odell ipa on tap? yes, thank you.

bourbon baker- pretty good. great? not sure yet. small plates. reasonably priced. really well done decor, etc.

the pork chop at aggie station as mentioned by someone earlier in this thread might just be the best dish in all of Manhattan. hot damn.

i showed up to station later on in the night and everyone was talking about how drunk daris was earlier.  it sounded like everybody was pretty concerned about him.  hope he made it home alright/doesn't have a problem.

went to Bourbon and Baker last night. Had red beans and rice which was all right, and the walleye which had this cheese sauce with Louisiana hot sauce () and mangoes on top. It was pretty good. Friend had the corn on the cob and a slider.

At first your like, "Oh crap these prices are great!" but then you realize the portion sizes are comparable to a German prison camp. The waitress suggested we order tree plates a piece.

Other than that the place is great. Awesome atmosphere with good jazz/blues playing. Ridiculous amount of whiskey if that's your thing. Only three beers on tap, IIRC but their bottle selection is great. I imagine many of those beers would be hard to find at any restaurant within 50 miles. I'll definitely be going back just to drink in the near future, as well as checking out the bakery which is on the other side of the building.
