I will go with you on March 30th for lunch.  Also breakfast at the Chef that day.  Hopefully together we can keep each of these institutions open.

Sounds great.  Will they be open for lunch?  Maybe, maybe not.  If not, we can just go to GAMEDAY and then check back in.

That menu looks amazing, I live Cajun food. I wish I lived in proximity. Alligator is rough ridin' gross though. Those pop prices are a little out of wack with the prices of the beer and specialty drinks.

Seems weird to me that Braum’s is going in at Scenic and Anderson. Like right there at that big four-way? Are there even any other businesses near that intersection?

I couldn't believe we couldn't get food almost anywhere in Aggieville last Saturday. Everywhere was packed and I had no idea Tubby's stopped serving food. We had to eat at rough ridin' Kites, because my lovely pregnant wife was about to lose her crap and needed something ASAP. Good for Aggieville, but sheesh.

It was a pretty lol experience for my guy kk and I. The lady took our order and gave it to the sixteen year old hanging out around the kitchen who then looked back at the lady and said “is this order for today?” With a puzzled look on her face and then a kind of half eye roll and shoulder shrug.

Mama Deauxs, formerly known as Cafe du Qvondayez (sp?) is BACK! and had a very typical experience today with my good friend rick daris.  We were watching the cats at GAMEDAY (best west side townie bar post-Bobby T's) and decided to go check it out.

Was there an open sign? yes
Was the door open? yes
Were there multiple kids just hanging out watching crap on a tablet? yes
Were they open? no, not until 5pm

Would you like to check out the menu? yes
Are you guys working and trying to get a quick order in for lunch? *check watch and see it is 3pm* No.
Well it usually takes 15 min because we make everything from scratch and some items take longer.   Ok, no problem.
What would you like to order?  Shrimp Etouffee and Cajun Seawfood Gumbo.
Ok that will be 18 min, I can bring it down to the bar if you want.  We can come get it, no worries.

~30 min later we both had a wonderful meal.

We both ordered a full size platter/meal and the Gumbo was like 3x the serving size as the Etouffee, no clue why.  Both were really, really good.

I will definitely be back, zero chance I dine in unless I bring a deck of cards and maybe shuttle over for cocktails from GAMEDAY (unclear if they will get their liquor license, looks like beer only for now).

If everyone pledges to go there 1x a week and get one other person to go 1x a week we might just keep this place open this time despite themselves.

I've enjoyed it as well.  The seafood gumbo my wife got was great.  Their fried green tomatoes were also really good.  Definitely still some kinks that need worked out operationally over there but the food is legit.  Will be interested to try more of the menu.

If it's anything like Cafe du Qvondeyz the food is great and the service/wait time is literally the worst you'll ever experience. To a laughable degree. I would be interested to hear from anyone that went to their Fat Tuesday dinner.

i really got the idea that it might be quite a bit better than it was before. i was told 18 minutes and the food was ready in 30! 30!  :excited:

Cool story, Houlihans is very over priced though and mainly a hotel bar, any townie who is like hey let's go to houlihans is freaking hooligan!!!
