Puni, that is really exciting. And frankly, based on your posts in the lunch thread, very surprising. I'm rooting especially hard or your cantaloupe, as I've never had much luck with them.

I brought in my first round of veggies to share with co-workers this week, which was a big hit. Also I have an absolute ton of cute Tiny Li'l Baby Limes (TLBL) and TLBFigs on my trees right now. It's the first year either tree has produced, and they are both exploding.

Last weekend I took out most of the greens in the garden (kale, spinach, mustards, lettuce) and replaced them with more heat-tolerant plants (limas, peas, collards, okra, sunflowers, more 'maters). It's really astonishing how fast beans grow.

I bought a hanging basket for my backyard and a couple of plants for my front porch a few nights ago.  That's the extent of my gardening abilities.

i have about 8000 small green tomatoes on the vine, i may have overplanted.

the mints came back strong from the earwigs, but are now being torn apart by these green caterpillars that show up every year to tear them apart.  the strawberries are about done.  insects got at least three for every one i got.  oregano and rosemary everywhere.  dried a little and threw away about 20x as much as i dried.  the basil is being a little slow for how hot it is.  also trying to flower early.

oh, hey dobber.  since you're here, i've got a question for you.  you know how on the bottle of an imidacloprid bottle it says to only use once a year on citrus trees?  that's just some bullshit that doesn't apply if you want to use it two or three times a year, correct?  and still be able to eat the fruit, i mean.

use the rate on the label as a soil drench and make only one application per year. The foliar sprays will not last as long.

i know this bottle of bleach says, "do not drink" on the label, but that's just a precaution, right?

Who is ready for a #GARDEN-HACK?!

You know that pollen stuff that falls off tree's this time of year?

It looks like this and piles up EVERYWHERE, especially on sidewalks and driveways.

Well this stuff makes excellent mulch/cover for your garden. I prefer it to wood mulch because it breaks down by the end of summer and you dont get random wood chips in your soil.

Garden before

Garden after

Had tons left over so I put some down by my peas on the fence line.

Also my asparagus bed

Which by the way i have tiny baby asparagus shoots now! I planted 5 roots about a month ago and they all have shoots coming up. Will "go to bush" this year, tiny harvest next year but in 2 years i will be dominating some asparagus on a daily basis.

liquid sevin.

 :surprised:
If you buy the one with the hose end sprayer on the top, buy a pair of chemical resistant gloves. You probably won't get any actual product on you, but water always leaks out of that connect. The advantage is that once you turn the water on and then start spraying the chemical, it will only take you about 20 seconds to spray almost everything that you want to spray. Then you can go back and spray again in a week or two, depending on insect pressure and re treatment intervals WHICH ARE LISTED ON THE LABEL!

Hey dobber, how does the sevin dust that's available nowadays compare to REAL sevin that is now illegal?

Asking for a friend...
