Well, looks like I'll have to come back to this thread once I'm out of college and have $ (1 more year). However, is there a cheaper way to look fantastic? Outlet stores perhaps? Right now all I can afford is some AE and the occasional RL Polo.

Also, keep your eye open for end-of-season and clearance sales online at companies like Lands End and J. Crew. Can get 75% to 80% discounts a couple of times a year if you use a coupon code.
buy pieces that are simple and useable year after year. essentially buy your clothes a full year or several seasons ahead. you can pick up shirts and pants that will never really go out of style at the end of the seasons. might not be able to use them in the spring or summer, but you'll be thanking yourself when fall or winter rolls around.
