Meanwhile Rangers are defying UEFA by playing God Save the Queen before their match. Starting to understand the rivalry a bit more now.

Whoa, I do not support Rangers at all (no offense fun muffin, go Fulham). In fact, I have a Celtic scarf that scottwildcat brought back for me when he took a trip to Scotland.  :D

I guess the long break didn’t help Liverpool.

Hard to take them seriously. Let's talk after the festive fixtures. I'll tell you this though, I'd sure as crap rather have them win than rough ridin' city

I thought the two VAR decisions were shocking.

I think the red card was redic and bamford clearly fouled him. I am no arsenal fan but that is just terrible to give that when bamford manufactured the whole thing.

Was there a foul on the disallowed goal though? Seemed extremely soft but I only saw one replay.

The second one might have been a foul on Bamford but Gabriel still kicked out at him.

The second one might have been a foul on Bamford but Gabriel still kicked out at him.

The foul on the disallowed goal was a 50/50 call. I've seen it not called plenty of times and I have seen it called. There was nothing VAR could do as there was no clear error. If that had happened to Arsenal, I'd feel hard done, but it was definitely something that could be called a foul and not anything that could be overturned by VAR.

Kicked out is a bit strong. Gabriel left his leg extended, most likely on purpose, but there was no egregious kicking out that warranted a red card. Even if the red card stood, Gabriel was clearly fouled by Bamford initially. This means there would be a free kick for Arsenal at the spot of the foul and no penalty even if the sending off was allowed to stand.

In all this discussion of refereeing, you somehow forgot to mention that in the build up to the penalty that Leeds were awarded, Kristensen was clearly offside and Leeds should have never had the penalty. The same AR that tried to get Gabriel a red card is the one that missed Kristensen being clearly offside...

Maybe it was a 50/50. Even as someone who wants Leeds relegated I thought it was a fair goal.

Gabriel extended his leg out and made contact with Bamford. Regardless of the foul before that, I thought the red card would stand, but maybe it wasn't violent enough. (no complaints about the penalty being overturned).

I didn't see the Kristensen offside and can't find it in the YouTube highlights.
