That not likely the case. Angel is like Diaz, both are Latino. They are both kids that are used to warmer weather in Florida. They are both accustomed to various lifestyles that might not necessarily fit in the Midwest. Unless you are a Midwestern and like living in say a state with fewer people than say a Miami metro area or for that matter, a state that would fit in the entire metropolitan area of KC, than it is hard for these kids.Manhattan is a fine place (to go to school). But for urban kids, black and Latino, and yes, suburban white kids and white city kids, FOR SOME, Manhattan just isn't the place to get excited over. Many can finish school there if they are from the Midwest. But kids say from the Southeast or out East and definitely those from the West Coast, it is a hard place to live. Many are used to being around thousands, millions of people. They are used to a variety of lifestyles. That is why so many from Kansas City prefer to go to the school East of Manhattan and East of Kansas City in Missouri. People are just more comfortable in environments with different types of folks, some prefer the weather they grew up in (and lets face it -- in Angel and Diaz freshman year we did not have 3 snow storms! We had a very mild winter). Some prefer to live in cities especially say a Latino kid or a black kid in a city where there are thousands of their kinds.
