Ignore WAS 'THE BOMB' EVER EXPLAINEDAT THE SNAP TO NO PUNTER Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Game? I was at this game, but do not remember the year, therefore the "snap to no one" reference. I know there was some baloney blow off story about it in areport, but I did not believe the big fat lie. Spelled out after the game in papers.
As a side note, I believe I brushed shoulders with the guy before game time ,,in the crowd on west side of stadium...it creeper me out then...backpack. ON.. rushing around in crowd sweating profusely, nervous turned away from a gate....At the time I thought he had a ticket, but not admitted because of a "wrong gate" issue and was directed further towards southern end gate.

Sometimes I wish I could decipher what the hell he's talking about, then I realize that would probably take away a lot of the charm that is elwood.

The way I understood it...is that gameday wanted to upgrade their broadcast and bring in some people that know football like Kevin Lockett and Dirk Ochs...That left Fritz looking for a place to land

That is not true.

I'm going to leave the question for Fitz to answer, should he choose to, but what you stated is not at all correct.

I can absolutely rough ridin' confirm that IN ADDITION to what the GPC poster mentioned, there were other reasons they "chose to not renew his contract."  The football certain was part of it.

Spill it Emo.

Guys let me clarify the deetz with my source during the KU game.  I was getting the deetz but then this annoying person I'm married to interrupted and the subject got changed (this was at the Miami game).  Would be weird if I contacted the source out of the blue.

This will be a great thread to follow for the next 18 years.

This would have been the day Fitz finally banned me because my response would have been, "I don't know anything about predicting height, but all I know is that you should keep them away from Tubby's."

Fitz will offer to guess their weight.

Bad strategy, because them his info would have to either be wrong or already reported elsewhere when he finally does share.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The GM at Manhattan Broadcasting and I had a misunderstanding over something leading up to the bowl game (it was nothing significant but he acted as if it was the end of the world), but it escalated (and I certainly played a role in that) with him declaring "war" with me. He then notified me in April that he wasn't renewing my contract. Fair enough. It wasn't like I was going to ever work for someone who declares "war" over what he did, but them saying I left the show is an outright lie. I have the letter to prove it. He made a business decision, so I did too. He basically opted to create competition in the marketplace.

It was time to move on. I was tired of the format and of standing in the parking lot four hours before kickoff (particularly at 7 a.m.) and in bars on the road where no one can really hear the show anyway. I loved everyone I worked with on Powercat Gameday and Matt Walters and Corey Dean remain a close friends of mine. John Kurtz is a really talented young guy. Matt does a great job keeping that show on the rails. I admire him greatly and planned to do the show until he stopped hosting.

Things happen for a reason. The GoPowercat.com Pregame Show has been such a blessing. It's re-energized me. I love the format of our new show. We really lock in on that day's game and pack a lot of info into that hour. The show is not only more financially sensible for our company, but we've seen strong growth in the site since we launched the program.

Plus, the folks at the Salina Media Group are great to work with. By next year they will do something I long wanted with my old show. They're going to build a network of affiliates to carry the program. The signals we're on already have far greater reach than the other stations, but add more stations (be it two or 10) and more K-Staters across the state will be able to hear the show.

Fitz's story doesn't make him look too awesome.  I'm sure there's some exaggeration to it, but I buy it.

Also, the first time Fitz ever beat someone to the scoop.

He was just telling her she is to young to know what she knows in a fatherly tone, not trying flirting with her.

He exaggerates the part where there is a "war" against him. It was a pretty simple business decision from what I heard.  Fitz is a self important blowhard whos kind of lazy so they made a change. They got Kevin Lockett and ochs to do the show instead.

Not one person has complained.
