A bunch of politicians are trying to prove a point. It's pretty damned hard to work with Federal entities right now because nobody knows if they will be available next week.

Just came from a meeting that was supposedly unrelated to shutdown. Turned out to be 30 minutes of F-bombs being launched towards the tea party and Republicans in general.

Have to come in for 4 hrs Monday to turn off my computer and change the greeting on my phone. I suppose I can manage to get that done in 4 hrs.

Obama should prob call Clinton, he was in charge last time they shut down. He got into line after that and things ran great.

Politicians: I just don't see how we can cut $30B from a $3.65T budget. This is too hard. Here's what we'll do, Dems you go tell everyone women will die of cancer and old people will starve if the govt. shuts down. Repubs you go tell people that cutting less than 1% from the Jupiter sized budget is "huge progress". Me I'll play golf and continue to collect my check and make sure you do too. Oh yeah, military doesn't get paid. It's supposed to be nice this weekend, so we'll reconvene after that. Too the bully pulpit!!!!

After this happened in 1996, several government employees got "back-pay" for the couple of weeks they were furloughed when they came back. Some were told to apply for unemployment and got that too - although they should have had to pay this back. Not sure if my dad did or not. This "shut-down" has nothing to do with saving money.
