So, here's how this is all going to go...
« on: March 31, 2011, 12:25:37 PM »
...so you can prepare yourself as I've prepared myself. The Rich Rod and Leach posts are fun, but even the elitest goemawer can't manage to hide the emptiness behind them where conviction once was. Here's the basic rundown:

Nobody's going to fire OB
He'll be here another few years
Nobody gives a eff about a billboard
Recruiting will continue at the exact same rate of suck with the predictable slight recovery towards the end of each period. As a coping mechanism most people will pick one or two recruits to get really excited about and forget about the rest. This is called the "Sams Effect"
We'll continue to pump out incredibly mediocre teams that play the right way and even create some mild excitement a few times.
Toss in the usual "the hell did that come from" game, a beat down of KU and an obscure bowl game and most people can live with it.
This will continue on for the next 3-5 years or so while Currie continues to improve our financial position, work on the stadium expansion begins, maybe even plans for a new practice facility.
With the large scope of the facility improvements we have planned and obscure bowl game money lining our pockets, we could very conceivably be in a much improved hiring situation. We might actually be able to look beyond the hotlist of recently disgraced former football coaches, and assuming Currie is still around, not completely eff it up K-Stateo style.
Really, it could be worse.  :dunno:

So, keep fighting the inevitable and flying your banners, or just run with it and embrace the simple beauty of these next few years. No, we're not going to win dr. peppers. We're not going to schedule more than one fun OOC game. A majority of our games will start at 2:30, or whatever OB said he fav game time was. Nothing about the next few seasons will surprise you. We're stuck in football purgatory with a 71 year old SLTH. But we know the end game. 3-5 years from now, when we're all trying to feel feelings again and remembering what it was like to care, we'll be able to start a new future, and place it on a solid foundation of sustained mediocrity and sound fundamentals. Enjoy the ride cat fans.

I read.

Makes sense, as long as OB continues to make rich tuck world feel good, ADJC and UPKS are going to do a damn thing until their grand plans materialize or until it's proven beyond a doubt that their grand plans can't materialize with OB at the helm.

If the Big 12 pulls off as big a Tier II TV agreement as people are hinting and they follow up with a more lucrative Tier 1 agreement in a few years, nobody is going to want to go anywhere IMO.

Yeah, they can't make their hire yet but they've got the important things done. Next hire won't be a Ron Prince type hire. They'll be an actual process and some money and incentives to throw around. In due time

I think there is a real possibility that the Big 12 dissolves and we're relegated to some shitting conference and never amount to much after that.

Dude, I know you're emo and stuff but take it easy. The Big 12 isn't going anywhere. It'll prob actually get stronger. And even if it did somehow dissolve we'd have options.

In this case, will tune in for the KU and TX games.

Otherwise, I have yard stuff I can do that is much less frustrating and that doesn't make me want to try to get someone fired.

Sorry Bill, it's not me, it's you.

Honestly, I have always been a BB guy.  I did fall in love with KSU fb while in school(late 90's, early 2000's) but the mid 2000's and since have caused me to grow a big callous on my heart.  Self defense.

Huge bonus: Chiefs are fun to watch again.

My mom's a shrink and she'd say that you do care big guy, you just need something to believe in. Read my post about hope and facilities and so-forth. And if that doesn't work I guess try to care about the Chiefs
