My dad calls about the weather and I live 1000 miles away.

"Saw you guys had some storms headed your way" . . . Me:  "Yeah dad, we've got weather radar and everything down here . . . crazy".

Always love it when he calls to tell me what to do when a Hurricane is coming . . . Dad, uh you've lived in Missouri and Kansas all your life, how many Hurricanes you been through there?

Where do you live?

Update! Letter from "weather grandma." And yes, I'm going to call her right now.  :frown:

Hi Jeffrey,

Hope all is good with you. We still are not experiencing much of a spring season. There was one day last week that was about 78 degrees and humid. That felt GREAT! Unfortunately, the bad weather returned soon enough, and my daffodils just can't seem to catch a break. I'm looking forward to warm weather once and for all.

Schools were closed this whole week so I didn't work at all. I kept myself busy. I saw two movies, made candy, went out to eat and worked the snack bar at bingo.

What have you been doing? I haven't heard from you?

If you get a chance, call me. I know you are busy.

Love,
Grandma

I'm going to go ahead and complain about the weather. Rain forcasted for 8 of the next 9 days.  :goodbyecruelworld:

How is a young, fit guy like me supposed to go on 6 mile runs every morning and 30 mile bike rides every evening if it doesn't stop raining?

Oh I don't doubt that but I didn't choose to live in Michigan, or Seattle, so I shouldn't be getting their weather.

A little OT but still somewhat related.
Some older women has been calling my phone and leaving messages periodically since around Christmas time apparently thinking she is leaving messages on her sons phone. I've meant to answer the phone to tell her its the wrong # but she always seems to call at the worst time and now its been too long I think for me to call her back and let her know its the wrong #.

It all started off with a simple hey we are one our way to your place be there in a bit. Then she let me know someones dad apparently died(she was very shocked and somewhat gossipy about this), next message weeks later they lost her check in the mail so they put a hold on it(she was very upset about this one), just last weeks message it snowed there last week and they canceled school(she went into great lengths about the weather), and the last phone call was a 30 second message about stamps.

Love, LOVE convos about the weather. Makes awkward pauses and exchanges with strangers more bearable. Here ppl just prattle on for hours about how amazing the climate is and how everybody else is/are dumbasses for not living here. Then they bitch about anything more than 1-2 days of sub-par weather just for effect. Fantastic. Would say weather conversation takes up 1/3 of my time, so it makes life easy. :pbj:

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

If you've ever worked in retail/food service etc. you hear nothing but weather talk all day everyday.  90% of it is bitching.  So complaining about people who complain about the weather is perfectly acceptable.

If you work in retail/food service, you are just as bad as people who complain about people that complain about the weather.

One of my buddies was actually outside with his wife during that heat burst.  He tried to explain it to me the next day and I pretty much thought he was insane, until I read the article about later that afternoon.
