the gpc delante thread is one of the funniest in a long time.

Please cut/paste gems.

it wouldn't translate without the context.  most of the humor derives from cassidy posting (in a different thread) about halfway through that hill interviewed but was not selected as a finalist and the tucks almost universally ignoring him to keep posting that we'll be ok without him, sending goodbye best wishes, discussing what to do with all the money freed up by a cheaper replacement coach, arguing about who he recruited & who he didn't and debating who might replace him.  also about 1 in 3 spells his name correctly.

not really on this topic but this brought it up

Quote from:  bp
Frank knew Matt years BEFORE he knew Brad! & Delonte!

Matt gets the "toughest" game plan "scouts" [like Utah State]
over Brad & Delonte

Delonte was a good hire for the Player connections, improving as a Coach

Brad was a good hire for the Kansas State history & State connections, and
had Juco HC experience
Matt was John Pelphrey's TOP Assistant @ U South Alabama and @ U Arkansas
[for a couple of months]

figgsey was demoted to dobo at arkansas when they moved there, i'm pretty sure.  not sure how that reconciles with "top asst" unless it was supposed to be a temp thing for some weird reason.

do agree that he's kstate's best asst/asst with best chance of someday being coach sevenfigga.  felels good to be aligned with bp.

Why would Utah State be a tough scout?  Also I'm 95% certain that I've heard Frank say that he doesn't assign the scout, they just rotate, take turns.

Marshall's name coming up a lot in relation to NC State, as well as Smart.

If any BCS school in a state with 'Carolina' in it offers him, he'll just fly there from New York and never even set foot in Wichita again.

15 years ago, maybe. Now it's arguable that they're not even the best job in their state.

that's Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  kstate isn't a better job than it was five years ago, ou isn't a worse job.  recent successes/failures are meaningless.

unless they move okc, move dallas and ou fball stops raking in money, clothing the entire state in crimson and getting on tv every week, ou will stay the 3rd best job in the big 12.

You've been saying a lot of stupid crap lately.  Why so off your game?

That's really the only reason I keep GPC.  All the 'tards that use thread view completely miss all the important replies and then get PI'd (as weak as the PI'ing is over there) for the rest of the thread.

Incidentally, the funniest thread I ever saw there was some dude told people to post their email and he'd tell them what BV did.  Every page there were 7 or 8 people laughing and making fun of all the morons that were posting their emails and the rest of the posts were morons still posting their emails.  It went about 4 or 5 pages and 3 or 4 days...which is EPIC for GPC.

newest name being thrown around down here in regards to the OU job is Steve Robinson

"Robinson was an assistant under Roy Williams, coached for a season at Tulsa with players Tubby Smith recruited, then went to Florida State and failed miserably as their coach.  He then went back to Kansas as an assistant under Roy Williams and then followed Roy to North Carolina."

This. Lon is a good coach. I wonder if he'll find the players to fit his runner/floater offense at OU.

amazing hire for OU, just what they needed....stability and a proven coach for several years.  Not sure that he's going to make them a 1st tier conference team, but they won't be down with iowa state anymore.

Lon Kruger? How is it that Oklahoma keeps making the wrong basketball hire? I'm convinced there really is no direction for that program.
