BTW, old school gE'ers will be sad to know that soonerfans isn't a thing anymore. The board is still there but there hasn't been a post in two years.

What happened?

Dunno, looks like it just ran out of posters

Not that anyone really cares, but I used to post there pretty regularly and it's a long story and I'll try to sum up as concisely as I can.  It was kind of going downhill for a while then they made a poster with the handle of C&C Dean a mod on the South Oval and he ruled that place with an iron fist...and not in a good way.  They had a messed up reputation system where someone who had more rep points carried more weight when they gave out up/down votes and that kind of spiraled out of control and as childish as it may seem the reputation points kind of mattered.  Anyway the mod I mention above ended up with the ability to swing a person's reputation by +/- a million points with a single vote (while the second most powerful rep hammer would have been maybe a couple thousand).

That person treated the board as more or less like real life and he was a pretty abrasive personality (I guess many would consider him a MAGA by today's standards) and he had a habit of not liking others who didn't share very similar opinions as his on lots of things.  Of course this turned off enough of the regular posters - who eventually left - that the place ended up being just two or three people and thousands of bots posting spam.

There is a lot more to the story, some of it kind of crazy in a kind of soap opera way, but I'll spare the details here.

This all happened like a dozen years ago, and honestly I'm surprised that place still exists at all.

gE never implementing a "like" system was a very good decision.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I am totally TSC, but the BEST drama would be if UNC went after Bill Self.

Texas being awesome and T-Tech being a bottom tier team is best for K-State and the B12.

So I guess Roy has gone back to not giving a crap about North Carolina.  Good for him though, I was glad to see him finally rack up some Nattys at a blue blood institution.

I can't imagine him retiring unless he was convinced he was picking his own replacement.  Wonder who that will be?

Who had a pandemic year being the wildest year O.A.T. for the carousel. Remember when the narrative was this was going to be a quiet year?

I've gotten some pretty good intel that tech will hire his lead assistant which surprises me because they definitely have the money go get a heavy hitter. I would go with the lead assistant as a secondary option, but I'm not Kirby. Especially this year, tech only has one commitment, it's not like they have a class they have to keep together. This is going to be the first time in like 4 years that Beard won't have a top 15 class.

I can't wait to see that Beard contract, wonder if he's going to make more than Bill Self now.

I'm guessing around 7.5-8 mill per.

I can guarantee he will be the highest paid coach in the conference.

makes sense that old guys would want to retire now ...

Is it wild? Indiana, who some people view as a blue blood is firmly the third best opening this off season. A current top 15 program in the country might be the 6th best job open. We're not even done yet. Are you confident that Kansas, Arizona, Duke might not open up? The secondary carousel, when NBA jobs open, hasn't started yet. Marquette and OU are two jobs that normally would be big carousel jobs, no one even cares about those jobs. Not to mention other really good jobs like New Mexico and UNLV. I forgot about flood aggie until I typed UNLV.

Yeah, it's been wild and fun to keep up with.
