This time I really believe it is different. It's not just "The future rides on Greinke...or Gordon...or Runelvys Hernandez." One guy here, one guy there. There is literally an entire roster of nationally recognized top prospects leading to a national consensus #1 farm system in the majors. More top 50/100 prospects than any team in the last 15 years, maybe longer, maybe the best since the start of the amateur draft. There are guys who would be top 5 in several organizations that don't even crack the Royals' top 20.
The first couple (Collins and Jeffress--acquired in the Ankiel and Greinke deals) are starting the season in the big league bullpen. Figure Moustakas by June 1. Could very easily see guys like Montgomery and Hosmer as well as a few others up by the end of the year.
On top of that, they get the #5 pick in June and likely another top 5 next year.
Frankly, I don't care about wins and losses this year. I just want to see the young guns develop and stay healthy. Start contributing next year. Possibly even contend next year.
