Did you see these? Man, TaTown is the best. Just the very best.

One of my vendors told me he saw the statue being made at a shop in Lawerence.

Confirmed.

I hope they checked the left side of the statute.  There was a KU reference etched into it.  Tough to see but it's there.  I know a guy who worked on it.

The artist failed to account for the viewing angle, that's all.  Btw, this picture is hilarious and does nothing to dispel the warlock whispers:

They gave the statue a hair cut before the unveiling

we should build a huge, massive rollercoaster all around the parking lots.  the tops of all the hills would be labeled with huge signs like "98 NEBRASKA" or "03 OKLAHOMA" and then the bottoms of the hills would labeled like "13 NORTH DAKOTA STATE" or "03 MARSHALL" or "98 TEXAS A&M."  we could just strap all of the fans into that thing and just send it shooting all around like a crazy rocket.  other people would watch the ride and think it was weird and that you were crazy for riding it.  it would be scary as hell, but also fun as crap, and you'd be buckled in tight with all of your friends and when it was all over you'd look back on how lucky you were to be part of such an insane, beautiful thing.

Since it made me see the game that much better, I hated it.

All time bowl appearances:
K-State history: 16
Snyder era: 14

All time conf championships
K-State history: 3
Snyder era: 2

All time wins
K-State history: 487
Snyder era: 170

You could also look at things like All-Americans, major award winners, Heisman finalists, facility upgrades, fanbase excitement, etc, etc, that are all due to him.

The man is universally hailed as the architect of the greatest turnaround in history. The results are undeniable; we were one of the worst programs in history when he arrived and we were on the verge of dropping the sport. In the last 24 years (since 1989 when Snyder arrived), K-State ranks #20 in total wins.

Of course we erected a statue in his honor. KU would do the same if they ever found a coach that made them relevant for a couple of decades.

Why is he walking on those hands?

That's super creepy looking.

I keep thinking that Han Solo is under there

This is, hands down, the best post I've ever read on gE

My Review of the Power Catstle (tm)

1) The Tailgate Terrace is great, but flawed in a couple of correctable ways
   a) The TV's, which all hang facing West were completely blacked out by the Suns rays...TV's Should be mounted on both sides of the concourse (both on the exterior catstle wall, and on the concession booths), and the side that isn't being effected by the sun should be turned on.
   b) The two sides of the Terrace are not =. The South Terrace is larger, and doesn't have plush seating or fire pits, but has more concessions, and a larger restroom (I think I counted 1 urinal & 3-4 seats in the bathroom). The North Terrace is smaller, has plush seats, coffee tables, and fire pits, but there is only a SINGLE toilet in the one bathroom...a bathroom that is large enough for 2-3 toilets...there were maybe 50 people on the South side when we were there, in an area that could probably hold as many as 150 comfortably, and there was still a 5 man deep line to take a piss.
   c) All members of our party were told repeatedly that the Terrace was open all the way through halftime...implying we could get up there at any point in the first half. This was not true. It closes during the first half of play, and re-opens at halftime. This led to a fairly long line of Boozecats @ halftime...it needs to be open the duration of the first half.
   d) (Possible Tuck Alert) They continued to broadcast the radio feed on the terrace through the 'opening ceremonies'...the fact that I missed the pledge of allegiance didn't bother me...but not having any semblance of time relative to gametime on the terrace did. They should put a countdown clock out there, especially if they are going to continue to cordon it off during the first half.
   e) Best part about it was the ease of entry...no line at all, they take away your Tailgate Terrace ticket, and give you a wristband for TT entry, and scan your game ticket. 30 seconds after scanning, I was ordering a beer, so that was slick.

2) The walkways in the WSC are great...very wide, not much congestion, even when full before kickoff. TV's in the signage are top notch

3) The crowd noise wasn't the large increase I expected...granted, it wasn't a very exciting game, everybody was rough ridin' roasting, and my seats were in the upper part of the South EZ, so I wasn't immersed in the reverb off the Catstle...but I still expected to notice an uptick in decibel level, which I did not.

4) The lighting did seem brighter on the field...but the entirety of the upper deck on the East Side was absolutely flooded with light in front of the towers. I'm not sure if they can 're-aim' some of the bulbs, but I'd have to think that if you were in those seats, it would be like watching a game in broad daylight.

5) The statue looks much better in person than in pics. We were all 'WTF'ing' the pics that were being posted on gE prior to arrival, but when we saw it in person, we were all in agreement that it was a more true likeness (cheeks are still a little puffy, but statues are never perfect).

Can't judge the noise level impact of the WSC from yesterday.  The crowd was utterly dead from the time the gates opened, straight through to the kickoff and even the game.  I felt like I was at LHC Bill Snyder Family Mortuary instead of LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

As to the lights, those things are pretty danged focused as it is, they they have plots they must follow to properly light the field.  Probably only way to fix the issue would be to raise them 10 or 15 feet higher than how they are currently placed.  Oops.

Well if you were in your seat you would have missed it anyway. Its very obvious they adjusted the sound system down to account for anticipated added noise or echoing.  No time was it more obvious than during the ceremony of allegiance, I couldn't hear a damn thing that new non-racist band announcer guy was saying.

you guys, even if the noise spl doubled because of the castle (it won't be) that only equates to a 3dB difference or whatever. people expecting it to be noticeably louder are going to obviously be dissapointed. sorry.

Weird...I actually made a comment to Wabash909 saying that in the past, we could see bugs swarming around the lights...but on Friday night, no bugs were visable from where we we were.....I really thought they may be magic bug zapping lights

Was anybody sitting near the top middle of the upper deck? Just wondering if it was kinda dark up there compared to the outer ends of the upper deck since the lights are so elite and low.

Also the views of the stade from north of the training table were incredibly elite looking.

I had tickets on the West side down by the training table.  It may have been me being pak'd, but it looking up at the WSC from that angle was very crazy.
