Noticed something today when looking at other stadiums and their recent renovations.

It's well known Currie went down to check out the Arizona end zone fun zone expansion. After looking at pics, it would not increase capacity as much as people may think to something like this at BSFS. If you notice, they have bench seating throughout the stadium like us, but their expansion is all chair backs and suite seating. Which we know take up a lot more room. Looked it up and capacity has only increased by a little over 4k with this expansion.

That leaves the question, if we did something similar, would tucks want the NEZ seats simply because they're chair backs? Would anyone? Everyone?

build cheap benches in NEZ, convert west side benches between the 40s into chairbacks

convert east side benches between the 40's to chairbacks. wrap around the northeast side and build a deck over there for overflow. have a student section in that northeast end and also a separate recent student section and then allow them to intermix up top. boom you're welcome.

would be sweet if young alum section was near student section imho.  is there anything worse than old people?  gross

Almost every young alum sits in or next to the student section anyways. It's too hard for them to stray.

I think adding chairbacks in the North endzone could be a good idea. It would make them desirable to a certain faction of the fanbase....ones that would sacrifice a little bit of the view for comfy seats. It might look really weird though.

Spartan Stadium (Mich St) is the stadium to model if a Vanier replacement is wanted. Probably said this a few times by now...

The color of seats only matters when they are empty... Please tell me you won't have empty seats with a legend like  :bill: is still wandering around. Those of us schools who would actually fill a 60-70k stadium for someone like him will gladly take him if you can't bear the responsibility. Step it up.

I like the seating portion, but I really want like a big glass wall of Vanier 2.0 to be above them so the The Majestic Snyder can overlook his kingdom from his office (or any other part of Vanier).  Maybe if the whole wall is glass they can put a giant etched powercat in the windows (moar powercats, but would actually like).

Pick your poison. 50% of Cat fans want to preserve the Flint Hills view. 50% of Cat fans want a big enclosure.

CAN'T HAVE BOTH.

What if the upper level of the enclosure was made completely out of glass so that we get our big amazing looking building, but we can see right through it to the beautiful Flint Hills?

Ok, so I spoke with the assistant to the assistant AD (wtf?) and he (its a dude) said that I will have to complete a 40 hour OSHA course before I can perform any work on the premises.  So I am taking PTO  next week to get that done and then next saturday I'm going to wire that thing up.  Go state.

Would a better long term strategy be to do the stadium Michigan State style and build a nice practice facility/SC complex/football offices across the street?

That way, year one, you build the stuff across the street, Snyder doesn't get annoyed, then the next year, we demolish Vanier and build a stadium expansion?

If you guys think you can fill 60-65k seats. Seems to be a point of contention on this site that K-State could gather that many fans to watch a football game.

I dunno for sure, but I wouldn't think completing the bowl would add 15k seats.

I don't think we'd add that many.

I think the seats they add would be minimal.  Mostly, it would be some limited lower deck seating and completing a walkway around the whole stadium.  There would obviously be home and visitor locker rooms, new videoboards, more concessions, etc.

This way, you could keep the North Profile of the stadium on the low side so we get the view of the hills for the most part.  Then we could build the new structure across the street while not disrupting current football operations.  Then we could also end up replacing the indoor practice facility and bring all indoor and outdoor practice fields, S&C, football offices, etc. in one consolidated area.

It'd add 8-9k. K-State is about 53k right now, correct? That'd put it around 60-61k, and anything done on the south side would put it at 65+.

Yes, we could fill it, but not regularly.  $5 tickets cheapen the brand, ask isu (ask ku how much free tickets cheapen the brand).

we could easily complete the bowl with club level seating adding a minimal amount of seats (if any). that's the smart way to do it.

I realize adding high-end donor seating makes more money, but endzones are tricky. Its better to have more cheap seats there with club/suites on sidelines.
