I am all for having nice things but that is just obscene. It's pretty sad as a society when our academic institutions spend more money on a game and the stupid people that play it than they do on things like cancer and medical research while general employees haven't seen a pay raise in the last decade.

btw, Oregon athletics receives 5.5 million from the school in funding and student fees while the school itself is dead last in the AAU in research funding. Pretty bold of a school that has had historical funding problems from the state.

Is it really the academic institution spending this money or is it the donors?  If a donor specifies where the money is to go, is it really the institutions fault?

Are these already replacing Oregon's lockers and facilities in this video?

Willing to bet the 5.5M Oregon athletics receives from Oregon academics goes towards funding the crappy sports that nobody cares about and only exist because of Title IX, not the ones with extravagant facilities and huge budgets

$68 million was spent on that Oregon facility, FYI.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Next we'll be seeing tattoo parlors in football facilities, free tats can't be considered an improper benefit if the school is giving them out

The State of Oregon might just be home to the nicest facilities in D1.  Oregon State just remodeled the Valley Football Center, built a $16 million dollar sports performance center a few years ago and built a brand new practice facility with indoor and outdoor practice fields, and remodeled their stadium . . . yet they still can't catch a break.

The McKay Center at USC is pretty off the hook as well.

And we've talked about spending $50 to $100 million to replace Vanier?  Yikes.  I can't imagine how over the top Vanier II would be if we dropped that much on it.  It's almost embarassing.

We're going to have to hope if Snyder is around during this, his input is minimal

I would be pretty sure that KSU's plans would include to seating reconfiguration along with premium seating/suites/club type stuff as revenue enhancers.  That tied in with the recruiting lounge and the other miscellaneous stuff.  Oregon is tough to sort out.  They are over the top with Nike money, and then things get out of whack when examining what they have done or are doing.  At any rate, if KSU does spend that much, it will be top rate, but will be serving a lot more purposes with the dollars compared to where Oregon's dollars went.

So... the loading dock for the training table is located at the north end of WSC.  Looking at the plans above, how will the S&C center, the Varsity Club, etc, not block access to the dock and the training table kitchens?  Unless the new addition is going to be raised so that trucks can still make deliveries and there will just be a much larger dock area underneath from the north edge of the new facility all the way south to WSC?
