Really not enjoying the 2 different sizes of limestone on the tower vs. the rest of the building 

It's called Architecture hierarchy. The battlements and supporting towers are supposed to look robust and fortified while the entrance is to be smoother and more welcoming the progression is to smooth that transition.

why haven't the finished the middle?  has something gone terribly wrong?

I believe this is the suites level balcony they are probably needing to install and attach railing to the actual structure before they finish with the facade. They may have other fixtures yet that need to be anchored (Tesla coil) but no cause for concern.

Also, it's been raining a lot in Manhattan, maybe they had all intentions of finishing up, but with the rain, they had a delay.

It could be anything from the rain, to a major issue . . . so in other words, hundreds of possibilities.

My buddy pointed out that, thats the very last of all the limestone, should be finished this week, and that on the list of things that might sink the project getting all the limestone done was near the top, so being finished with it almost a month before the turnover date is pretty elite.

Usually you can find a couple that are pitched out the back of a frat or sitting on the curb in front of a house. These are usually piss stained and or broken so that should feel right at home for you.

it's ok to say good job when someone does something good and bad job when they do something bad. if you don't then they might think the bad stuff is good or vice versa.
