Vanier is a hot mess . . . the sad thing is, so much money has been spent updating all the various areas of the facility and instead that money could have (and should have)made a substantial down payment on an entire new facility that's laid out in a better and more efficent fashion.
And again, to be perfectly blunt, it's pretty much LHC Bill Snyder's fault that is the case. I couldln't help but chuckle a little when I was told a few years ago that Snyder II realized that all the pains taken to avoid major disruption in the renovation process only made the future project that much more invasive and that much more expensive. The millions spent updating Vanier 5 or 6 years ago could have made a damn nice down payment on a new Vanier.
The only really good news on this is the fact that we have an athletic director who is 2 for 2 on major facilities projects in terms of doing it right (with all due respect to personal preferences) and will likely insist that Vanier II be done right so it doesn't have to be messed with again besides the occassional updating of technology and furnishings.
