I have been telling my friends that I thinks that the AD would probably make the amenities on the East/South side a priority. The reason is that new restrooms/concessions/ticket booths/fences and gates are easy and quick to build and would be an immediate impact to most fans. While a new press-box is a priority, very few of the 50,000 fans that attend a game will receive any benefit from it. By building the east side stuff first and quickly the majority of fans will be content.
The Jones stadium press box renovation cost ~53 million, and that's kind of what we're shooting for over there. We originally earmarked 60 million for that, from what I understand, so it will be a little more significant than what they did.
From what I've been told, the entirety of stadium renovations is going to be around $80 million, so that means we're spending an additional 20 million somewhere. Stadium construction afficionados can tell me if I'm crazy, but I think we can do some kind of simple thing over on the East Side where we just take some sort of limestone exterior, drop it straight down from the top of the upper deck, and make the East side look enclosed from the outside. Nothing too fancy, but at least make it look less bare bones and give the east and west sides a consistent look.
Then, like Kauffman stadium, you could put some more concession stands on the upper deck so people don't have to go to the Freemasons up there or walk down to the main level for food.
