Michigan spent like $1.5 million just on the lights . . . that's a lot just for lights.

Agree 100%.  They should be able to do something WAY better than this.

I think ours will have a club level deck similar to the East side.  something about symmetry.  I dunno.

I can't imagine what they spent providing electrical service to the lights and additional press box/suites. I'd bet a good chunk of that $1.5 mil was spent on distribution to make the lights happen at such an old stadium.

and yes the metal panel or spandrel glass facades look like.....well let's just say dog poop is a compliment as far as I'm concerned. I think they tried to duplicate the look of Lambeau Field, which also looks like butt.

how much would it cost to just build a big cinder block wall on the east side to cover up the guts of our stadium to the parking lot and paint it?  $15 bucks?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

If we're gonna make the west side the bee's knees, I can't imagine we'd leave the east side untouched, especially with the addition of the BPF. I think if we dropped $1 mil into it, we could create a pretty sweet concourse on the east side

Tarps could do the same, but we should get them now before Baylor builds their new stadium.

I have been telling my friends that I thinks that the AD would probably make the amenities on the East/South side a priority.  The reason is that new restrooms/concessions/ticket booths/fences and gates are easy and quick to build and would be an immediate impact to most fans.  While a new press-box is a priority, very few of the 50,000 fans that attend a game will receive any benefit from it.  By building the east side stuff first and quickly the majority of fans will be content.

The Jones stadium press box renovation cost ~53 million, and that's kind of what we're shooting for over there.  We originally earmarked 60 million for that, from what I understand, so it will be a little more significant than what they did.

From what I've been told, the entirety of stadium renovations is going to be around $80 million, so that means we're spending an additional 20 million somewhere.  Stadium construction afficionados can tell me if I'm crazy, but I think we can do some kind of simple thing over on the East Side where we just take some sort of limestone exterior, drop it straight down from the top of the upper deck, and make the East side look enclosed from the outside.  Nothing too fancy, but at least make it look less bare bones and give the east and west sides a consistent look.

Then, like Kauffman stadium, you could put some more concession stands on the upper deck so people don't have to go to the Freemasons up there or walk down to the main level for food.

building style mash-ups are just amazingly rough ridin' awesome guys.  Like two-face in those batman movies or doc jeckyll, mr hyde or mullets: business up front, party in the back.  They are just really really great and I'm happy to see such creativity.  sometimes I'll listen as one boombox (I have two) pours out the sickest and best hip-hop beats of today and then on the other side of my room I'll have my second boombox playing garth brooks slow dance stuff at the same time and it blows my mind.

Hey, you know what they should do, they should put the pressbox thing on a lazy suzan, because that way we can flip sides and change the facade whenev we want.

Do they make prefab facades? Maybe when we have teams come in we can have a giant mad-face that's 800ft tall being all mad at people walking in and then during the rest of the week it can just be that 800ft tall arch.

I agree that the press-box/luxury suits are the real money draw, but the whole project is going to take 2 years to do.  I just think that if they knock out the East side stuff in year one BSFS will look more elite sooner rather than later.

:dunno: Very short wait on the westside. Will be even better when the expansion is complete.

Any insidery info on when this project will officially be announced?

I was told everything is a go in January.  I didn't get more than that.  I asked when we would see renderings, and I was told that they could come during the bowl season, but that was just an assumption based on the January start.

thinking we should play the games in memorial stadium while the renos are going on... i'd probably pay about $20 a ticket to see that.
