on the 2nd pic, why are there gates right next to the stands on each section?

I believe there are stairs and elevators that will be available for entry/exit into the offices and definitely during basketball games, the gates will close off the football stadium outside of football game days.

Could be wrong, though.

Why are we building a VB facility in the first place? I realize we have all kinds of money and stuff, but what's wrong with Ahearn?

It’s hot AF and old AF. With indoor track moving and money spent on other non-rev sports it’s needed. Fritz has built/maintained a pretty respectable non-revenue program for like 20 years. VB doesn’t deserve to be the only program relegated to playing in that old relic.

Makes me wonder what they’ll do with the old barn now that basically no sports will be operating in there. Could be a cool renovation for classrooms of some sort I guess.

Ahearn could actually be renovated quite nicely for volleyball if they were the only program using the building. I'd hate to see it demolished.

Seems like you'd want to maintain those entrance points and parking spaces for folks with club seats on the east side.

they are using it to cover up the east side.  i think it will look fine when done.  probably.

New practice field is supposed to be grass. Hope that is a good sign for my dreams of a natural grass field inside BSFS.

agree, there is like 5ft of space on the concourse in the corners of the stadium, with an unnecessary amount of space outside the gates.

If they renovated Ahearn it would cost just as much, if not more than building a new, smaller facility. That building is an ADA nightmare and it's horrible for volleyball. It most likely won't get demolished, Gene said that it belongs to the university and athletics would give it back to them.

Well that makes sense, but... what do you do with it then? Does it become like Nichols Hall where the exterior remains, but essentially a new structure, with all kinds of rooms staircases, and perhaps a performance venue is built inside the shell?
