Looks like populous gave us the Yankee Stadium treatment. I assume they did the new Yankee stadium because the front facade is pretty similar. Anyone else notice that?

Yeah but they did that to match the rest of the campus architecture and keep the Romanesque theme of simple round arches with heavy load bearing walls. The arch was first utilized to it's full potential during that style period.

A professor of mine, by the name of Mick Charney, went into great detail about how a majority of universities use Gothic Architecture because it is considered the pinnacle of architectural/intellectual  achievement. It is considered this way because Gothic Architecture built upon the Romanesque style of simple arches and reached farther into the skies with pointed arches. He loved that K-State did not prescribe to that train of thought and stylistically considered college education to be the foundation for achieving a lifetime of intellectual achievement.

K-State wins again.

Are we for sure that the funding is in place to start construction at the end of November? I'm so excited to see what this looks like, I would hate to see us have to wait a year.

Yes, we're sure. Everything will be moved out of current Vanier  starting as soon as the team leaves for Waco.

and where are we with the NE corner? any chance in hell we knock it out at the same time, or is it for sure going to be constructed in another year or 2? or never?!?!

Doubt it happens this round. Probably 2015-16. I think the delay is
more of a logistical issue rather than finding.

Well, we're just going to look silly if we get into the playoff, won't we?

Won't be ideal, but should be manageable. WSC will be the temporary home.

So, I am watching ESPN gameday last Saturday and they cut to LHCBS and his merry band of DITR's getting off the bus in front of Vanier.   They're traversing the lovely limestone steps and terraced limestone plant beds filled with beautiful fall flowers, ornamental grasses and various landscaping accouterments.   I just saw a picture from inside the Vanier sports medicine center with its modern fixtures and walls lined with flat screen TV's . . . and I realized they're going to tear that whole mother rough rider down in just a few weeks and build something twice as nice and twice as large.

Wow  :Woot:

Clams do you think that they'll make parts of old Vanier available to buy or to claim?   I fear that in this rush project they're going to move all the furnishings and such out, and then just bust the rough riding  heck out of what remains and haul it off.   It seems a shame that one couldn't at least have a chance to maybe purchase that large engraved Powercat at the dressing room entrance, or other signage that's engraved into limestone.    Or the "Kansas State" sign on the field side of Vanier.

I hope we are able to fast-track the east stadium upgrades (Phase 5) once Vanier is done.   There is such a drastic difference between WSC and East side.  I mean fans can't even watch the game from TV's on the lower level of east side when they go to restroom or concessions.   :shakesfist:

Wow.  So Rich.   :kstategrad:

President Schulz’s visionary K-State 2025 plan is becoming a reality all around us with $167.1 million in planned academic construction in FY15 now underway, highlighted by the new College of Business building, Engineering expansion, Purple Masque Theatre, the Berney Family Welcome Center at Memorial Stadium, Wefald Residence Hall, KSU Foundation building and other projects transforming our beautiful campus.

Quote
......currently projected to be $69 million including all equipment and technology. As you may know, consistent with our commitment to fiscal responsibility, we do not plan additional long-term debt with this project. In fact, our staff is working harder than ever to remain below our current fiscal year operations budget so we can complete the VFC in the same first-class manner you have helped establish with the Basketball Training Facility, WSC and Intercollegiate Rowing Center, among other projects.

Still, in order to properly complete this project and do it right, we need to achieve our Vanier Football Challenge Campaign goal of $50 million in philanthropic support. I am very excited to announce to you today that we have currently achieved an important milestone of more than $45 million in gifts and pledges!

I love that they used the Lockett "pylon TD" at ISU at the 40 second mark on the replay board in the video.
