the pics show it connecting. wont it? the leaked plans showed it connected to the west side concourse with a giant concrete chasm on the east. that would be fun to build  a rope bridge and zip line over.

yeah it'll be connected after a few years, but my question is if this fackin grass in the nw corner will be there, which would be completely amateur hour.

Yeah I hope they get rid of that crap, K-State0 to the max.

You guys do realize that the "grassy" (field turf area) in those photos is the 'staging area' for the team to gather before running out onto the field after coming through the tunnel, right?

Currently we have a long, exposed concrete ramp that serves this purpose but that's will go away with the new design.

the rows don't connect because the seating angle of the NEZ is much more severe than the rest of the seating bowl.  because the angles are different, the rows can't connect.  geometry or something.

thats why it has the goofy terraces. They are building it basically from scratch i dont see why they dont make the seating angle whatever they want

They could use a blend.  Might be a little awkward.  Less awkward than what they've chosen, though.

I feel like this has been discussed a hundred times.  somebody check with Scott.  There's likely something in the hutch post from April.  I dunno.

Consider 2 general design goals:  1) 360 concourse connectivity.  2) minimal seating capacity increase.  To reconcile these goals, they NEZ needs much fewer rows than the SEZ, but the top of the sections must be at the same height.  Hence, more severe seating angle.

The alternative would be to mirror the SEZ and make BSFS a true, symmetric bowl.  But, I'm guessing this would likely increase seating capacity up into the 65K range.

I would buy a ticket to the lowest grassy terrace and cheer on my 'cats as they stage onto the field.  :ksu:

exactly. it doesn't have to be that way but we chose it to be that way. there are about a billion things that could've been done to accomplish all the goals plus a symmetrical, connecting bowl. tearing down the non permanent crap looking bleachers still on the south end that impede pedestrian traffic much more than a couple of trees outside of the stadium and in front of wsc ever would have, would've been a nice start. oh well.

it is absolutely possible that they could make the corners perm seating. would only look a little awkward when empty due to the steady change in the amount of rows to connect, but would look just fine on gamedays.

SRO deck

yeah.  And really, it seems like they could monetize this pretty successfully by making the SRO deck a type of party porch area with alcohol access.  Most pro parks have this.  Sporting Park has a party porch - all you can eat/drink.

speaking of sporting park, the design is kind of similar to what we're talking about.  The seating angle in the south stand, west stand, cauldron, etc. are all different.  so, the corners are not all connected.  except for maybe the southeast corner.  And they've got a terraced party deck in the southwest corner.

i think if kstate ever decides to build a separate stadium that's designed for 15-20k people to watch professional soccer, they should definitely take the two hour drive down I-70 to check that place out. i don't think kstate will ever do that though.
