The 25,000-square foot weight room is fortified with Brazilian Ipe wood floors, which have a reputation for being dense enough to bend a nail.

they're so full of crap.

Hippes, surrounded by logging country, rough ridin' import wood from Brazil?

they are monsters  :shakesfist:

Great set of photos of what Oregon did here: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2013/08/01/outrageously-unique-amenities-in-oregons-new-football-facility-hatfield-dowlin-complex/2606223/

If ours is even remotely comparable, then I think we will ALL be calling our doctors about 4.1 hours after the unveiling.

How does wood get a reputation? Do some people sit around and gossip about wood?

That was my initial reaction as well.  However, if we are spending almost 2/3 of the cost of the WSC on a building that's not even close to being 2/3 the size of the WSC (likely less than 1/2 the size), then we must be including some incredibly nice crap on the inside... right?

yeah, but the WSC is nice on the inside, but nothing even close to the crap in Oregon's locker room thingy. the WSC on the inside is actually super basic if you ask me. Purple carpet and furniture some limestone, some pictures, some glass, lots of powercats, and and two elevators.

I've not seen (nor have I looked to see) what Oregon's fan accommodations look like, but I'd think that's where comparisons should begin.

My understanding is that the goal was to provide "nice things" for the fans/donors, but to provide Oregon-like crap for the football team in order to attract another Snyder-quality coach to keep things humming along when the wizard ultimately steps down.

My gut says that this thing is being done right and will be rough ridin' amazing.

not saying it won't be great, I'm just saying I will be shocked if it even can be mentioned with Oregon.

as long as our floors are dense enough to bend a rough ridin' nail, and floor people talk about it at social gatherings. ELITE.

I like my weightroom floor materials to be american-made, but I guess I'm just patriotic like that.

Do not try and bend the ipe. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.

Does redwood or oak have a reputation for bending nails? Have you heard any good wood gossip?
