If anybody wants to get into the natural gas business, I'm gonna go digging around for some after lunch.
Get a flex straw so you can pump out of your neighbors lawn (if there's none in yours).
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

What was the deal with Bob Krause again?  Made Prince his life insurance beneficiary or something?

TRIED to make him the beneficiary. Bob Krause utilizes the kind of outside the box thinking that we could use more of around here.

Yeah I mean obviously I'm trying to raise emaw money so nothing's off limits here. I'll probably just incorporate a fracking/flex straw strategy and just suck up all those sweet ground liquids and sort out the cash liquids later.

Bob Krause just ordered a scotch filled all the way up to the top until it starts kind of going over the lip and he has to bend down and suck scotch out of it before he can pick it up off the bar.

I love this one.

I feel badly that was ever mad at EMAW stud BK about the contract.   I know outside of today's announcement he and Mary have cracked the checkbook open many times and written some fat checks to K-State.

You know, it's days like this that Dax really shines.  It's like we're all just sitting around and drinking scotch and there are piles of money everywhere and Dax is over there at the head of the table just holding court while he smokes his Monte Christo.

Without question. Hell, it's probably the weirdest thing to happen in Ron's weird ass life.

Gems from response on Phog to bombshell announcement:

Meanwhile, there's still a track around Memorial. It hurts, brothers.

If only we were building a new state-of-the-world track facility.  If only Zenger was working with design firms to develop plans that can be used for fundraising.  If only . . .
Good grief, people.  rolleyes  Do you really think Zenger isn't working on this every day?

I know. But it still hurts, because it's 2014. That thing should've been gone 30 years ago. flushed

If he's working on it every day, he's obviously very bad at his job.

Yes, I seriously think he's not working on this every day. I question what he even looks like at this point, it's been so long since he's said boo about anything at all. (from the one and only Dr. J)

I don't know what the incentive is to have it finished quickly. I'd rather they do it slowly and well than poorly and fast. Doing it poorly is almost worse because it would necessitate another half-ass renovation in the future. Bandaid renovation jobs are terribly inefficient from an administrative point of view. (my favorite lol)

Aren't they basically building what we already have in the Anderson Family Complex/Anderson  Strength Center / Wagnon Complex?

(And from beems, remember you read it here first) Until K-State relocates the stadium and removes the harley track, they've still got a ways to go.  This recent project will basically put their football complex on par with the rest of the Big 12.  As it stands right now, KU has two strength centers that are both nicer than Vanier.

:surprised: I would not bet 60 mil on it. I use to think the Big 12 was solid but the more you read it could fall apart in 5-10 years.  If there is another round of conference realignment. schools like KSU. ISU would be left out.  At least  KU has a decent chance of going to the Big 10 or wherever.  KSU could have the greatest football stadium in the Mountain West.

Sounds like the cigars thread would potentially be much bigger astronomical on the ol' phog.

Glen Mason asked for something comparable to Vanier for ku football in 1995, it was completed in 2008.  They spent $30 million on Anderson, all in, including 2 new practice fields.

But all accounts, our project will be $50 million, 40% more than what they spent on Anderson.   If you go back to 2005, that will mean we will have spent over $60 million dollars on football office/training complexes, to their $30 million.

LOL at Beems harping about the "Harley Track" and relocation.   When all is said and done we'll have one of the nicest on campus athletic complexes in college athletics.   While they're traveling 5 miles off campus for their outdoor track and softball stadium, and their basketball arena and primary athletic offices are on the opposite side of the campus from their football facilities.

Man....just give all 60 for phase III

we will have ALL the nice things scott. ALL.

You're right, I'm just butthurt the new CBA building is happening right after I did my four years in shitty Calvin Hall.

I was back on campus earlier this week and caught up with Dean Malekzadeh. I was the president of the Dean's Student Advisory Counsel my senior year when the planning started) The newest (and final) plans are considerably different than shown in the "Calvin Today" issue. It's even better than you could have imagined. Leaving all of the mature trees, expanding Lovers Lane, rooftop terrace, 4-5 stories (can't recall), etc. It's great, you guys. PS, fundraising to the $55MM goal is completely done and then some. Construction will start this summer.

This makes no sense whatsoever.   You're telling us that all $55 million dollars has been raised with private money?  How can this be, we're just a bunch of bake sale taters with no wealthy alumni, holdin bake sales and lining up by the truckloads to dump our piggy banks into a big tater bucket.  Didn't two tater alums donate $10 million each towards this project?

I know of two $10mm gifts and one I believe to be $8mm. Now more going to CBA from Vanier fam to cover programs the facility fundraising would have subsidized otherwise. Student fees will still absorb the proverbial lion's share of operating expenses for these new initiatives.

NBAF too.

Also, I don't get the harley track talking point. I'm probably a 7 on a 1-SkinBen scale and it doesn't really bother me.
