You know Currie wants to have a big event to unveil this thing.  But it seems like he is waiting to long.  Pics are going to be leaked sooner or later.

Does he do it at the KU basketball game in early February??? :emawkid:

I would like that date.  Do it right before the game to rub their faces in the fact that basketball season isn't going to last much longer and then do like a comparison video of other Big 12 facilities and include that awful box in in the back of their endzone.

KU game would be great. They could talk about it on Big Monday when the game gets out of hand.

 :Wha:
took me a solid 3-5 minutes to whip this up on MSPaint. tell me how far off and we can make adjustments and release this to the public asap.

I'm gonna guess the corner boards will face the opposite corners and not straight down the sideline.

Not sure if serious..

I have an A+ source that says that there will be two north video boards, and both will be "HUGE". Don't know exactly what my source considers huge though.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My little tidbit sources say as big as the current South Endzone board.   If they're looking to spend $12 million on AV/Sound for just 3 venues, than you have to expect a pretty elite set up.   As a follower of these kind of projects $12 mil is a HUGE price tag for a collegiate project.

I've been envisioning a set up like Sun Devil stadium is/was/will be after reading grumblings about 2 boards in the NEZ and one larger one in the SEZ.... just for the AV/Sound aspects not the stadium as a whole.

No insult, but the mock rendos being posted here are all pretty terrible as compared to the real deal. This board is going to melt down when they're posted. In terms of transformational value, this project is easily equal to the WS project - perhaps even more so when it comes to athlete and coaching staff amenities, recruiting, etc.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

i wonder if they'll build the weight room with glass windows so you can see from the outside, like nebraska. snyder wouldn't allow that though.

actually... kind of brings up another question of if they will build it thinking in terms of snyder ways (privacy, etc.) or not?

The renderings I saw definitely appeared to be tailored to Snyder's personality.  Ton (TON) of false walls, escape hatches, peep holes, discrete listening devices, etc.  In fact, they're using the NBAF engineers to design the subterrain weight room, FWIW.

no way. the rendos here done in less than five minutes by a guy that knows nothing about the plans will easily be equal to or possibly even surpass the real ones when they are realeased. you don't even know what you're talking about, sock. drugs?

Hear a rumor (C+ source) that the power plant supposedly being built for NBAF is actually going to support the new Vanier. Makes you wonder what they need all that juice for.

I dunno, but I heard they're designing the weight room to accomodate a LOT more ellipticals and rowing machines - the kinds with individual TV screens.  Maybe that would explain the amped up juice.

Question: How does the exterior come together?

So, we have an octagonal shape, or will, apparently, for the facility.  Are we looking to connect all of the sides on the exterior and tie it together, or are we basically going to erect one solid structure on each of the four sides (N, S, E, W)?

Basically, I'm asking if we're gradually closing the stadium in instead of having free standing structures on every side.  I mean, something is better than nothing, but I think it would be nice to ultimately close everything in.

I agree. It will look good regardless, but it could come out a little hodge podgy if they all end up as free standing structures.

I'm not sure.  There will be 360 concourse connectivity.  But, I from what I remember, Vanier 2.0 will not connect to the East Side.  It is more likely to connect to the West Side, given the training table, but I can't remember.

Ultimately, from what I saw, the various structures are tied together regardless.  Given the seamless concourses, enclosed seating bowl (98% enclosed) and corner fan pavilions, the whole concept has a uniform, connected feel, seperate buildings notwithstanding.  Vanier 2.0 is very big.  despite non-connectivty (at least on the east side) is appeared very 'closed-in' to me.  it doesn't look like a random hodgepodge of independent buildings.

what I saw the building itself did not connect to either the east/west side...looks like it could in the future if they wanted to however....

and the video boards were angled in.

There was a lot more glass, and I think one of the slides showed the weight room with an awful lot of natural light coming in...but don't hold me to that.

The locker room itself was one giant circle...looked kinda awkard...but good to address the whole team at once I guess compared to all the "cubicles" they have now.

This is potentially possible but highly unlikely. They have already built a lot more infrastructure to make the normal power feeds to NBAF be fairly redundant, so in the case of losing a line or two the place can still run w/o needing an emergency system. However, I would suppose that in order to be totally prepared for emergencies (terrorists taking down the grid, or just mother nature doing the same thing) there needs to be so much generation available online at all times to make the switching of loads from normal to emergency generation seamless. It is therefore possible that all that excess generation just might power some external sources (like Vanier) with it as it sits in a sort of "active idle mode". But, really, I'm pretty sure the stadium is also powered from the substation that also is part of NBAF, and that substation is probably already ridiculously oversized to handle loads and growth that I can't imagine anything they put in Vanier would draw any power from NBAF, it's not a critical load (as much as we all think K-State football is). Plus look at all the ellipticals and other equipment added for the rec expansion, new rowing center, WSC, and BTF, and Jardine that all have happen in the last few years. Adding Vanier is not really adding that much load.

lets make the fball stadium somewhat octagonally shaped and then also somehow do the same thing w/ the baseball facility and then enclose all three in some sort of octagon and then call the compund the octagon of something and all roads and pavement inside of said octagon are purple so that regardless of where you are at you know you are inside if you are stading on purple. also maybe have purple lights and music that plays in a way that you only hear it when you are inside but the second you step out then you no longer here it. 180 degree cancellation barriers? thoughts?
