KU saying their bball facility is better than K-State's is really dumb.  I've walked through both multiple times.  They are very different, but if you separate the "practice only" space with the arena/HoF space there is really no comparison.  Silly talking point really...
Go tell them that, it's quite amusing.

They will do what they always do and come up with some ridiculous explanation why I'm wrong.  I don't want to get involved in a pissing match like that.  Waste of my time.  I just enjoy watching the show, not being a part of it.
To be fair, it wouldn't be a good time for it anyway, but in the future, feel free to just drop it in some thread and leave. When you come back you'll have at least a full page of their butt-hurt comments.

yep, best way to mess with the phog is just say something, then leave.  bball practice facility smack realllllly got them going.

The poor guys are just pissed off that K-State transitioned from a small financial bump in the road to getting the signoff from the state to build well over $100 million dollars in self financed facilities in less than 3 years.

I have no idea about what lettercat is talking about and neither does lettercat, but it sounds super exciting!

What is a "blank limestone wall" or how do you "finish off all the stone renderings"?  No idea!  Maybe with more limestone?

More stone work?   Reply

Talked to a buddy of mine who is working on the WSC project. Was telling him about the blank limestone walls not being finished. He said not so fast. He got an invite to bid on 7.5 mill of stone work. Bids in by mid sept. he said their gonna finish off all the stone renderings. As a masonry contractor working on the project he would know so this sounds awesome they want to finish everything. Can anybody else confirm this info?

ADJC spoke at our Rotary this morning and mentioned that the stone wall around the field was going to be completed in one of the six phases (not sure which one).  He also mentioned that they are going to put in a new sound system and north video board after this season.

Also in reference to the TV view, what I heard yesterday was that ESPN and other broadcasters informed KSU that the camera bays won't work.  So the way I understand it they won't be used for broadcasts.
How do we do such a big project and let this happen?  Wouldn't they think about this stuff in the beginning?  Or did we make these camera bays for our own filming purposes and tell ESPN to take care of their own business?

ESPN approved the plans before it was built, disapproved once it was actually built
This, the architectural designs were directly modeled on existing stadium designs in this regard, that host ESPN cameras just fine.  Not one stink was made until the building was up and an ESPN rep did the first walkthrough.

The part I don't undertand is that you would assume that ESPN would simply have a standard....say "anything between 30 and 50 degrees down from level to the nearest sideline" as their norm. THose numbers were clearly made up, but you would think that's how they would do it. If you meet the guidelines, then you would be fine. That seems to makes sense to me anyway.

it's sad, but also extremely entertaining.  my slow days at work thank the phog for their delusion.
I had a little fun yesterday with them. I think a few might have been frothing at the mouth a bit. I knew once you say something about their basketball it's full on meltdown time. I  was right. Prolly get banned again lol.

probably because you said kstate's basketball facilities are better than KU's and that's a very big LOL

I've walked through both practice facilities and been to games at both KU and K-State. Both gameday venues are crap from a facility standpoint, but that's a good thing in basketball. Crappy venues are loud. KU having their practice facility attached to everything else in the athletic department (volleyball gym, athletic offices, club section for AFH, etc.) gives off a much larger vibe, but both are equally nice. Football really needs to start... these summer arguments are getting old.

I think they're referring to the southern most facade. There is a tall narrow strip of cut stone (as opposed to rusticated).
