So I knew this wasn't a figment of my imagination. A very young SB vaguely remembered that for like one year (?) we had a field design in the '80s that was hilariously lazy. I don't remember seeing it in person, I just remember it from a postcard I got at Wildcat Spirit. YouTube confirms: before we had the enormous Cocaine Willie at midfield in the late 80s, we just had...a purple box. That said

Most of the old artificial turf (which is not artificial grass) fields had large crowns.  OU was ridiculous.

NFLPA wants to ban slit film artificial grass fields.  FYI, the turf going in at K-State in the offseason is a hybrid slit film/monofilament field.

Went to the OU/USC game in '82, I think, maybe '81.  Got on to the field after the game and yeah, standing on one sideline and looking across to the other you were seeing people armpit/shoulder level.  That and just the unnatural feel to it. Quite a bit of spongy give.  You could really appreciate how that stuff could eat knees and how turf toe would develop.

Just the look of the new practice structure makes architectural monstrosity that is the OOD all the more frustrating. Kansas State basketball should be playing in what aesthetically looks like a field house.

Respectfully disagree. I like basketball arenas that you enter on the concourse level, they generally seem more intimate to me.

I'd like to see some renderings of Bramlage renovation possibilities. As long as there isn't a painted purple cinderblock wall around the top, I think I'll be good with it.

Allegedly the very preliminary design work up of New Bramlage has a lower seating bowl entrance ability, as well as an upper concourse level entry.  The whole West side ould be dug out and entire new entry plaza would be built on that side.   The East side would remain concourse level entry.

You mean in addition to the ones built this off season? The upper rows of north side and east side of are now all boxes, capacity is down to 11,000. The boxes look great.

I remember a long time ago, like first cut of the athletics upgrades right after WSC was a thing that the west side of Bramlage would be some sort of plaza/KSU HOF area, seems that idea is being resurrected, though I'm sure through many iterations after the fact.

Will be curious how they keep the sort of "split level" of entrances, I assume the west side plaza is a rather large entrance with some sort of way to get up to the current concourse on each side and way into the the bowl on the west straight in? Understand it's prelim, trying to picture it in my mind
