When I was in school a farm kid on the football team told me that the Kansas climate was too extreme for a good grass field - it's too hot in the summer for cool weather grasses and to cold in the winter for warm weather grasses, which is why Mizzou went back to grass and OSU and KU have turf.

But really it's probably Bill's dumb practice requirement.

I also remember something about the water table and the level of the field being a problem since it's kind of dug into the ground.

we're the number 1 ag school in the country.  just engineer a seed that can grow grass in kansas, dammit.  it's not that hard.

I just don't care one way or another, but I feel like the people who want the field to look good on TV will disappointed what that field will look like early and late football season. And then when you got for all the extra costs (watering, mowing, maintenance, etc) you are looking for us to engineer a grass that is low water and hardy in all seasons, which oh look at that, artificial turf.

Fan bases are all passionate about different things it would seem. There was even a fan base once that was so passionate about some pieces of paper that they spent millions of dollars to get them and then constructed a multi million dollar building to store them in. Try to wrap your brain around that one when you get a minute.
