If I remember correctly they had to pull the existing cement work out of the way to put in some drainage systems. Now that the wall is in place they are replacing that layer.

That's probably not getting limestone for a whole bunch of reasons.   Will be painted a nice blending color from what I hear.

Wasn't there, just something I noticed in the highlights, so could be wrong.

Well, at first glance putting the same 3 or 4 inch thick limestone veneer on the stadium side will likely create or come close to creating a code violation with aisle width.    I could also see concern with the rough surface not being very palatable for walking around in tight quarters on Gameday. 

You also likely jeopardize the life of the wall by not sealing that side with a masonry type paint/seal.
