It looks huge. They wouldn't even be able to fill half of it on a regular basis.

Went to the game yesterday, also went in 03 and 07.  The transformation of pickens stadium is ridiculous.  It went from open-ended and mid-majory to screaming elite, big time football as you walk up.  BSFS has a long way to go to even get into the same league.  Hopefully the west side expansion will get us moving in the right direction, but there's plenty more to do.  Have to close in the NEZ either with seats or expanded Vanier.  Need to clean up the SEZ by adding permament concessions/restrooms, getting rid of tent city and somehow hiding Bramlage.  Then the exterior of the east side needs a facelift to match whatever we get on the west side.  We know all this stuff already, but seeing boone pickens in person really makes BSFS kind of embarrasing for me.

Two things I didn't like about the stadium shouldn't be an issue for BSFS because of its hole in the ground design.  The area under the stands between the concourse and seating was basically just sidewalks and gravel.  Surely they could have spruced that up a bit to match the rest of the stadium.  Second thing is site lines.  The seating is so close to the field (great for noise I'm sure) that you can't see action on the sideline.  I don't think the stands are as steep as BSFS either, which just makes it worse.

Long story short... rendering please and get the gold shovels out ASAP!

Here's one reason the NEZ needs a bigger video board.  During the second and fourth OTs of the aTm game, the Aggies got the ball first and headed toward the north end zone.  We needed to be loud as crap, but because there's a tiny-ass video board above Vanier, most of the 8,000-ish people sitting in the south end zone were all turned around and facing away from the action so they could watch it on the big video board .  Our D needs your voices, people, get angry, get loud, go ksu wild wild cats.

 :shakesfist:

Not saying the video board over Vanier has to be the same size as the one on Bramlage, but to not update and at least double the size of the one we have there right now would be pretty bushleague.

We're :kstategrad:, we gotta act like it.   :excited:

Hmm...  That's more than $50 million, right?  What does that mean in regards to our dome?

I don't know, but that's approximately what Iowa spent to totally revamp Kinnick a few years back.

I don't think this has been addressed in this thread yet, and  :sdeek: if it has, but for those of you who have insider-y info on this stuff:

Are they gonna do anything about the lights when they do the renovations?  I mean, they could probably use an update.  Sure they work fine, but the 4x2 light pole action at BSFS looks a little Bishop Stadium-y, and I think that's one reason (of many) that other teams make fun of our stadium for being high school-y.

(And sorry for getting everybody's hopes up that there would be some sweet new info with the bump of this thread.)

Last I heard they were going to have new lights on top of the new press box.  They will have to do something because the depth of the new box comes out to where the current lights are located.

No, fixed that with new HD Light bulbs after that season that they brought in the extra lights.

Chill the eff out, it's a valid question.  We're trying to make our stadium look like a real stadium.

Schultzy continues to tell donors that the project will start after football season.  I'm hoping for a surprise announcement.

Would be a cream dream if it came right after a bigtime bowl V. and Dr. Pepper and he started it with, "...Well we gotta have somewhere to put all these trophies, so..."

Did i mention I saw some actual K-State letterheaded plans for the 5 or so phases (not the ones on pg 53) of this thing at the Baylor game?  Because I did.

The only thing that stuck out to me (beyond the pressbox) was that the endgame was to extend the concourse in front of vanier to connect both sides.  I don't remember much, but it was pretty impressive.
