Will the "cool" Pinstripe Bowl K-State be on the new field at BSFS?

Yes . . . it's cool.  Currie Prevails.
NO . . . OB Wins again.

Let's start with the priorities. We need:
(1) As many students at the games as possible (noise, spirit, growing the fanbase and future donors)
(2) Maintain the tradition of the the best student seating in the Big 12 (for same reasons above)
(3) More money for athletics

These are the goals, right? With these in mind, shouldn't we:
(1) Increase SGA funding by at least double
(2) Move band to the corner, because why the hell are we parking the band in prime real estate?
(3) Keep the base student GA ticket prices the same, but maybe increase ICAT prices.

I thought the students paid for their tickets, by way of ticket packages being tacked onto their tuition?

did someone say that they didn't?
what's confusing about this?

read Towniecat's post too quickly.  "Students are fill up roughly 1/6 of the football stadium, 1/3 of the basketball arena, and receive free admission to the other sports."

thought he was saying that they got free admission to bball/fball.

I love what Curry has done with facilities, but this "we've got to either raise ticket prices, reduce student seating or keep the $500k coming" is bs. This school, rich alumni, and his ability to brand the crap out of "Welcome to K-State!" doesn't exist without students, nor does much of our home field advantage.

you should re-read the article, paying special attention to the part where it says "Currie said he has no intention of reducing student seating to increase public seating, which would increase ticket revenue."

if i were a SGA guy, i would vote to double it the SGA payment.  imagine how great it would feel to say, "we funded 1.42% of the ad's budget!".

Right. What's more ironclad than "I have no intention..." statements. I get all warm and fuzzy when I hear them because they are in no way associated with a threat/request also on the table.

"Kids, I have no intention of leaving this family." You're right, thanks for setting me straight.

right. but he never said or hinted at anything close to this-

but this "we've got to either raise ticket prices, reduce student seating or keep the $500k coming" is bs.

so ok, you're welcome for me setting you straight i guess

if you move the band from prime real estate, the only consideration should be to a place where they can be heard better throughout the stadium. Because unlike the other students, the band doesn't leave games early, or miss a game, ever.

If there is one group of people who deserve prime real estate, it is the band. I'm fine moving them, but don't act like some drunk frat boys deserve those seats more.

i am not sure if adding costs for tickets to all events would be good or bad.  maybe it would be great.
on one hand it would force international students (and a few whites too) who ordinarily wouldn't, to purchase tickets and increase AD revenue
on the other hand it would mean empty seats at events that would never be filled
i guess the AD could oversell games like airlines do, knowing a certain % won't show up

some band guys get scholarships, but they don't come from the AD. They come from people donating directly to the "we made a giant peen and jayhawk on the field" fund

This

Drunk frat boys huh, smelly band geeks seem a bit inferiority complex-y. No one deserves anything but people actually paying for a seat are higher on the hierarchy than someone who doesn't.

i would disagree. the amount of work, energy, and time that the band gives, is worth more than the $200 or whatever an icat student pays for passes.

my opinion is the band should be placed wherever they can best be heard by the most people. some engineer could figure that out pretty easily i'm sure.

I think the point that everyone is missing is, they completely mumped up on the NW/N/NE seating/party deck designs with the expansion.

Put the band wherever they can be heard the best.  If we want noise, there you go.
