I e-mailed the pics to a big donor friend of mine that told me he was shown renderings a few months ago.  Hopefully I'll know by morning if these are the same as what he saw.

They are.  This is a small section of the design work Populous developed that the athletic department has been using for their donor meetings since last fall.

There are also much further developed renderings of the interiors and plans of all levels.

Heery will develop the final look of the structure. The basic idea and elements will be the same, but Heery will have the opportunity to make their own design. So the public renderings this fall will definitely be different than these. Same size and scope, but different design elements.

It's going to be legit though. Trust me. It isn't going to be half assed.

Heery will need to make sure their spray foam insulation and vapor barriers are up to par or Holmes will destroy them.

Mid-America Golf and Landscape, which also oversaw the turf installation at LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium this past spring, will serve as project manager.

I know for a fact Mid America Golf does the turf at KU as well and they dont have crappy ass missmatches....

Quality renderings are important. A rendering like NBAF just makes you feel good inside.

I think its more of an issue with the fact that they would go through the trouble to bring in an entirely different type of turf to cover 20 yards instead of just using the good stuff and paying a lil more for it to look right... Its like going to an autobody repair place and they say you can save 100 bucks to drive around with a black fender on your red ferrari... As a member of the design profession I can say this crap doesnt just happen someone made this decision and the lack of attention to detail is just not acceptable given the amount of money involved. Having said that you are right it will be covered with crap on gamedays and my not be noticed by the masses but it makes Kstate look cheap to those who do see it. Its not about being butthurt or whatever yall like to call it its about being proud and taking some ownership for the stuff that goes on at your school of choice... imo

There have probably been a thousand metaphors dropped in this thread.  Jeezuscrist, this thread could be a chapter in a middle school english textbook.

The field is 10 out of 10.  5*.  From endzone to endzone.  The ZOD is bad.  But, eff, it won't be on TV.  The line will be blurred by media.  It's an afterthought.  And, it isn't going to change at this point.

The parallels here with the BSFS expansion are actually quite striking.

Let's keep out fingers crossed the Heery design doesn’t mismatch with the Populous design, though.  

Proverbially speaking, we’ve got some good turf laid here.  It would be a shame to stitch some crapty design on at this point to finish out the project.  Proverbially speaking, of course.

I like what it is showing, although the renderings themselves look like crap, the product looks nice, and it only makes me more excited for the real renderings.  I mean, I'd rather have these shitty renderings now and good ones later, then just the ones later.  At least it sets expectations.
