Yes . . . it's cool.  Currie Prevails.

I am pretty sure that K-State Athletics would have to buy that land from either the Foundation or the university.

Doesn't the "rules" of the foundation or whatever say that land can't be sold or repurposed?  It was donated to be what it is; it shall always be what it is.

no i don't think that is true. i mean the foundation was building a new building on the corner of kimball and denison and then the market tanked and the stopped and i heard sold it to something involved with nbaf or something. i can check into this but i'm pretty sure there is no rule.

The land is owned by the individual departments within the College of Agriculture. (this is basic knowledge of people that know how the University runs)  The Foundation had to purchase that land from Animal Science, that revenue went to the construction of the new buildings they have just to the north on Denison.  The land to the north is owned by Agronomy.  Agronomy sold part of the farm to a developer in the early 2000's to finance purchase of ground in Ashland Bottoms south of town.  That development is east of Anthony FYI.  I highly doubt Agronomy is going to sell anything to athletics because that area is the base for foundation seed sales and all research activity out of Manhattan.  Plus there is talk of building a new classroom teaching extension building on that site.  My knowledge is A+ on this, you can confirm with J-Von.

Yeah, that's pretty much it.   But, for the right price, anything can be sold, and the proceeds could build a nice building somewhere over there, with a lovely little drive up.

I'm not sure under which circumstances a previous owner could influence the purpose of property sold.  I suppose a conservation easement might be possible.   :dunno:

I just would prefer they move the animals that poop further away from stadium.

Athletics isn't developing anything north of Kimball.  So, moot point here, fellas.

What does this mean then?

Word on the street is that weights, offices, team complex etc, is going across the street and current endzone area will be suites, and video boards.

Source is A -.  Company prez is BFF with a top 15 donor.  He sits with this donor in his box pretty much every game.

ps, the "friend is friends with a top [insert number] donor" line is basically a dead giveaway that you're not ITK.

Headinjun's guy is full of crap.  Any ITK person I've talked to says North of Kimball is a non-starter for the reasons listed above.

I understand why it's a non starter, but I really kind of wish it wasn't.   Just a lot of space over there to build a full service football complex.

I always  at what some people consider as being a "top 10" or "top 25" donor.

It solves a lot of problems and makes a lot of sense.

You see this gigantic field across the street from the football stadium and complex and think, "Hey, why can't we build something nice over there?"

Then you find out some seed nerds are using it and they won't let it go because they want to do more seed things.

This is a stupid question and probably deserves a hit on the head for asking it, but what would be the financial impact if we were to just take half of the west side parking lot and turn it into the facility/practice fields?  How much impact are we talking?  Is that even doable?

as someone who kind of lives over there i have a love hate relationship w/ that gigantic field of nothing north of the stadium. like, i'm glad they don't just throw up a bunch of dumpy apartments there or something equally gross but wouldn't mind something that i could get some use out of or that would benefit me/ksu/mhk.

Meh, I don't see the need.  There is ~ 140,000 sf between BSFS and Kimball and the E & W parking lots.  This would be plenty large enough for Vanier2.0 + connected indoor facility.  Displaced Vanier parking simply goes into E or W parking lot.

If we deemed it necessay to also connect the outdoor fields to BSFS, simple switcharoo between the fields and 1/3 of either the E or W parking lot.
