However, I also know some legitimate donors that literally think LHC Bill Snyder can do no wrong, and think this program will be just fine as long as he's here. Disagree all you want, but they are out there and I know they are most likely in the minority...........

Why shouldn't they?  If you were a KSU fan that went to games up to 1988 and then watched what he did, he should be given a chance until he proves he can't do it again.  And so far in this iteration, there has been steady improvement and I see nothing that shows that "OB" won't be able to get the program back to being a regular member of the top 25.  Will it definitely happen and will we be fine as long as HCBS is in charge?  Who know? But I know he is proving he deserves the chance to make it happen and you "boxer butts" (wears jeans/pants/shorts so low down their ass their boxers show) should lighten up and drop the severe criticism.  And as far as being a minority, I bet there are more EMAWs that share this opinion than there are EMAW boxer butts.

This is a good example of what Populous was talking about:

He already proved he can't do it again when he failed to fire the dead weight at the end of his last go.  Now there's a trend of not dropping dead weight & KSU's heading in the direction of mediocrity.  Because mediocrity is a step up - you see improvement.  Everyone else realizes this is OBZ ceiling with this staff - but you still think he's infallible.

Also, LOVING the misconception that everyone that thinks OBZ should retire/leave/be fired is a 15-20 year old kid that "sags" - Thinking kids still "sag" shows how out of touch with reality you are.

& when I say TUCK, I mean people like you, you ford driving, bluetooth wearing, jort loving, douche.

He proved he can't do it again by what he did at the end of his first term?  That doesn't make much sense.

I can't keep up with the constantly changing definitions of shirt tuck and powerespect, but at least one of the two must apply to those who give a crap about things like high quality press boxes and that the AD spends money in a way that is morally correct, right?

yeah, didn't write that very well; what I meant to say was anyone not Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) knew this wasn't a second DOD when he brought back the same lame coaches he couldn't fire after he failed 04-06.  Can you tell me you were happy he came back & you heard the staff that was coming along?

I liked the staff when it was first announced.  Vic and the 2 dudes from Utah seemed like a nice, solid place to start.  Don't like Cosh having an entire D to himself.  Wish Snyds would have hired some younger OCs, especially because it's gonna be his offense regardless of who gets the OC tag.  But, as far as calming the waters goes, this staff (outside of Cosh) is fine for that.  If you can't see the improvement in talent since Prince left, you're blind and/or just biased.  If we had a legit QB, we would be looking at a pretty nice season.  (8 wins.)  Sounds like Sams/Bender solidifies the QB spot for the near future though.

Yeah, but you're also the guy who thinks the crap-smear turf behind the end zones looks good.  And fwiw, it's already been established that we are underwear show'rs, not boxer butts.  Have a couple more why don't ya.

I never wanted a calming the waters hire; the water gets pretty rough ridin' calm when you have a slth; but even then, I guess I wouldn't have been so pissed if the original staff had stayed in tact - But I pretty much jumped on the fire bill bandwagon when Cosh was named Sole D-cord. If you can't see that 8 wins is the ceiling without a solid D, then eff man, I don't know how to debate you.

Agree on all points.

Things are on solid ground, and you can't really complain all that much about the state of the program (in the present tense) with the exception of hiring/retaining Cosh.  He'll most likely go 6-6/7-5/8-4 for however long he intends to stay, which combined with the facilities upgrades and increased revenues, will make the job moderately attractive for some coaches in the next few years.

My main complaint with Snyder is that it isn't a long term strategy, nor will it ever be.  None of the coaches on this staff deserve even a token interview for the job once he leaves, so we're going to start over from square one whenever he chooses to leave.  That's true of most coaching searches, and if we get 4-5 good years out of him, that's probably worth hiring him, but it's difficult for the long term future because it emboldens the tucks to think that we have to stick to the Snyder tree for any hope of success.

I don't think I would even bother to argue that 8 wins is the ceiling here.  (Well, without an insane amount of luck or something.)  All I want this staff to do is get us back into the top 30's type of region.  Just get things calm enough that another solid coach would actually want the job.  After the 2003 CCG, crap was really not going well.  (The Texas Bowl was not very impressive.)  Add in the Prince fiasco and I doubt we would have had the ear of any coach like we want to coach here.  Just get us back to a solid footing so we can actually find a decent coach when Snyder leaves.  (And I don't think Snyder actually entertains ideas of Sean taking over when he leaves.  I believe Bill is well aware that his time is limited and is trying to get Sean as much on the job training as possible so that he can find a job elsewhere when Currie makes the next hire because that dude will likely clean house.)

this statement wouldn't bother me if there had been an actual coaching search after ron - who's to say a decent coach wouldn't have entertained the idea of KSU then?  If not then, certainly now.   The waters ARE calm - we're just wasting our time where we're at.

Not much of a search needed after we got Patterson.  As far as wasting time now, this program isn't exactly a coaching mecca.  I'm giving Snyds another year and I think it will be a good one.  I had mentioned (in a different thread) that I want 8 wins this year.  6 or 7 wins and Cosh absolutely has to go.  Anything less and we should just implode the thing and see if we're able to land some sort of decent coach.

I'm just pissed that Rich Rod and Mike Leach are both available and possibly obtainable, and we won't even sniff either of them because Bill doesn't think the waters are calm enough. We will end up with somebody like Jim Leavitt at best and Sean Snyder at worst.

Leavitt is at least a proven coach from a BCS program.  Sean isn't going to happen, chicken little.  And Rich Rod and Leach?  You really think RR goes from UM to KSU?  And I just don't see Leach taking the job either.  Just my opinion dudes.

Leach was practically begging for the Minnesota job (pretty equivalent to KSU), and there weren't any BCS programs knocking on Rich Rod's door last offseason. Nobody at Michigan's level is going to interview Rich Rod after his performance there. He's going to have to take a step down, and the timing would be perfect.

And if they came to KSU, they would be out of here quicker than Bob Huggins. And I believe Huggins genuinely liked KSU/MHK.
