He grew up in Riley County.  It'd be like celebrating the fact that Brady Morningstar was on the sidelines today for KU's game against Colorado.

I never thought you'd stoop so low as to refer to Colorado as your Super Bowl...

Former D league star, Wayne Simean is back in Lawrence ALL the time.  He runs a cult marketing operation there in town.

LOL @ mentioning a bunch of has-been football players who no one gives a sh*t about.  Jordy Nelson is a natural hayseed who grew up in Riley County, so he doesn't count.  Wake me up when one of Beasley/Walker show their faces in your hayseed hick of a town even once.  This thread = epic fail.

We're blessed here at K-State to have former superstar players that really want to be back in Manhattan.  Are there some that don't really count?  Yes.  Do we appreciate them any less?  No.

Let me put it this way.  If we were blessed enough to have one of our former superstar players return to Manhattan to sign free autographs at Mr. Goodcents, would we as a fan base choose to buy fewer $1.81 turkey subs from that said Mr. Goodcents just because that said former superstar player's hometown is just a stones throw away?  No, we wouldn't.  Why?  Because we're blessed.
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Michael Beasley, prankster extraordinaire, struck again during a recent visit to Manhattan.

Beasley, whose best gags always seem to involve Sharpies, grew envious after hearing about former teammate Jacob Pullen's famous facial hair. So before he left, Beasley scribbled a black beard everywhere his image appeared in Kansas State's basketball offices.

National Basketball Association trade talk is swirling with much of the chatter involving former Kansas State All-American Michael Beasley.

To that, the former Wildcat laughs as he says, "If it happens, it happens. Honestly, I'm hoping the league will put a franchise in Manhattan, Kansas. I could get excited about that."

Quote
Beasley, who returned to Manhattan this week to see friends, just completed his second NBA season with the Miami Heat where he averaged 14.8 points on 45 percent shooting from the field (27 percent from 3-point range) and 80 percent from the line, plus pulled down 6.4 rebounds per game.

Quote
"I love Manhattan and loved being at K-State, but it was a decision I had to make for a lot of people," said Beasley of leaving the Wildcat program after just one year. "I love my life now, but I do miss Manhattan."

Former Wildcats Bill Walker and Blake Young took in the contest.

Walker, who is off for the NBA All-Star break, has played in eight games for the Boston Celtics and averages 3.5 points.

Young had been playing overseas in Russia but has returned home to Orlando, Fla.

Can also confirm that current starting NFL quarterback and non-hayseed Josh Freeman was in MHK this past spring partying it up with the locals.

HOF'er Tex Winter returns to Manhappiness all the time. Very approachable in the morning at 3rd St. McD back when his health was better.
The university and community are so blessed that such a giant, a near god really, graces us with his presence.
I'm not even going to mention Bill Murray, who's been known to drop devastatingly funny asides about the hockers while sipping beers and fondling waitresses in the 'Ville.

When I was a freshman in college, I went to my first K-State football game (as a student) with my brother, his roommate, and Jonathan Beasley.

The man snuck some of my nachos and cheese, and I loved him for it.

I was so pumped about this thread and it was going great.  Then I got worried that it would all be ruined with Beems didn't respond.  Then he did and it was better than I ever imagined.  Pulling the "they don't count" card was just adorable.

Don't you EVER change Beems.

Rams I think you are missing the true point of the thread.  We have great players who have gone off, made millions, and yet, still love MHK enough to want to come back all the time.  You know why they do this?  It's because of us loving, adoring fans.  We are truly blessed, great day to be purple, go state.

Yes....actually WAY worse. I've seen him the ville a few times. Once he was completely wasted at O'Malleys.

I would be willing to be that Jordy would drive down the street in his car with his windows down to meet fans if they an encounter occurred.  I highly doubt the windows would be tinted and his personalized license plate is probably ksu27, not something self centered like truth34.
