Because Marshall isn't an idiot. Any kid with his skills, YouTube, and a functioning brain could see that he's a perfect fit here. If we wanted him, we could get him.

I'm sorry, sd. You know I respect your opinion, but if we don't get Marshall, and he goes to IU, it's because we let him go to IU. Losing kids to Charlie Weis and his Super Bowl rings is one thing, but there is no way we lose a kid like that to Indiana unless he doesn't want to face any form of competition (possible) or we're favoring another option (possible).

This staff may not be full of great recruiters, but Jesus, they aren't THAT bad.

its been proven that
a) we cannot get anyone we want
b) they are that bad

i hope we sign a few of these guys but seeing people walk out the door to places like iu ku and lousiana laffeyette make me wish we would just pay recruits

Sams has a weird, short arm delivery. Dude didn't even start as a QB in HS. Guess it's possible he's the next Jordon or something. Probably more likely he's the next Harper though.

yeah, it's simply amazing the level of denial recruiting puts people in. Tre Roberson (as a true freshman) started the last half of '11 for Indiana, then got hurt this year (I think in the first game) and redshirted. They inserted Cameron Coffman (a jr juco) after his injury and he played pretty much the entire year.

Indiana's QB situation is remarkably similar to ours, if not "better" in terms of returning QB depth.

CK has a weird delivery too. what's your point?
i want one of Waters or Marshall and i don't care which one. both are very talented and both could do very well in this system. i want this mainly for depth. i don't know if either of these guys can come in here and start right away, but i certainly don't want the number #2 qb sitting on the bench next year to be ertz or johnson, because if it is, we are mumped in the short-term if our #1 should get injured and we're mumped long-term in the recruiting numbers game.

Zacker, Sams is better than anyone on IU's roster by a mile, and you know it.

JUCO QB's don't give a crap about the backup. They give a crap about the starter. And if you're Nick Marshall, and you see Daniel Sams highlight reel, as limited as it is, you are going to be hesitant to pull the trigger.

Waters at least brings something different to the table. He's like a Marc Dunn that can actually run a little bit. Marshall is Daniel Sams with another year under his belt. He's going to think twice.

Waters stats from his sophomore year:

3501 yards passing
244/333 73.3% completion percentage
39 TD / 3 INT (13:1 TD:INT ratio)
256 ypg rushing
4.9 ypc
6 rushing td's

So, if we get Waters, this is absolutely a Dunn/Roberson scenario all over again (as was mentioned), but Waters can run and Sams is more athletic than Ell.

Sams and Roberson were in the same class. Sams was rated #30 (as an athlete), Roberson was rated #28 (as a dual threat QB). Roberson has played in 11 D1 games, starting 6 of them. Sams has played in 7 games.

Should we pop in Sams' highlight reel from OSU?

Look, I love Sams. Love him. But KSU has a more competitive situation than IU. And if Nick or Jake come here, it's because our coaches did a better job at recruiting those guys than whomever we were up against.

Someone should tell him that Bill O'Brien has that kind of time because he only has 15 scholarships to fill due to the probation. Also, said probation is going to severly hurt the overall talent of the team, making it harder for him to succeed and show the NFL scouts what he can do.

True. We should start recruiting only qbs with strange deliveries since CK was a stud.
