big and talented player.  Legit 6'2 200, 4.5 40 as verified by the "top prospect developmental camp" put on by national underclassmen combine.  That is an invitee only camp.  You get invited only on recommendations by rivals, scouting personnel, or being top 15 overall nationally at your position based on the regional camps they put on or earning MVP of your position at your regional camp.

Here is a good video of him returning an interception 85 yards for a TD a few weeks ago against Derby.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

He seems like a safety to me.  Confirm or deny.

I'm getting really jacked about this kid.  Watch this punt return @ 7:55....SMOOTH!  He's got good exceleration and elusiveness...looks like one of them tall receivers you see at OU or LSU.  This kid will be 220 in a year or two and very threatening.

to answer your question...athletically he can play either...could even play corner but he doesn't seem to have that physical edge necessary to play defense.  Watching him screams out wide receiver to me.  TNew wasn't physical in high school either so who knows.  He's definitely a very talented kid.

holy jesus!!  Watch the TD catch at the 11:00 mark on that video I linked in the previous post.  Easily a 4 star talent type kid.  I don't want rivals to share his video.  This kid is extremely talented.

Oh, I'm fine with him.  I just want him on defense because, well, I want him on defense.

just continuing to update the relevant spots on the video to watch.  At the 21:22 mark he has a nifty run where he demonstrates his elusiveness.  If this kid WANTS to be good he'll be really good.  He's got a lot of tools.

On a side note...

With grayshirts, the class now stands at 18.  What makes it really interesting is that it is comprised of 17 freshmen and 1 JUCO.  We're still actively recruiting preps, too, so I'm thinking we'll end up with a really high number in this class compared to the average.

My numbers are always off, but I think we have three countbacks this year, so that means we've still got ten spots to fill in this class.  I'm sure there will be another five or six JUCOs and some guy that couldn't get qualified somewhere else.

He has some nice video in the link Hatter provided.  The cutback TD at 22:47 was pretty sweet.

Ya, those two were more or less the entire team through the whole season with a few exceptions. But Suggs played pretty much everywhere including punter. Dude is a stud and will be something special. Also, apparently Burton was getting good interest from OSU too  :dunno: FWIW

I like Suggs...and not going to dis him but this Burton kid has big time potential.  He's fluid, elusive, he has nice acceleration, size, good hands, ball skills, body control.  He'll be a dandy in a short period of time.  Since he's local I'll bet our coaches work with him in some fashion between signing day and next season.   He's the type of kid you want to get on the field early in his career (see Lockett) because he's capable of making a lot of plays.

OSU didn't offer Blackmon until around Christmas...it was his first offer.  After watching his highlight video on rivals I was stunned that nobody was taking him early.  Some of these kids for whatever reason still fly under the radar.

Ya I agree, I definitely agree that Burton is a real nice pick up, but I wont complain about getting suggs too, best players to come out of MHS for a long time

Who are the parents of Ty Suggs?  I'm assuming he is probably Pinkie's nephew.  When it comes to Manhattan athletics, the Suggs family is like royalty.

Kind of like the Bensons: http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/BkoeGeejWEupbTF0iZrHbw/football-fall-11/profile-lincoln-benson.htm

"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Hatter is right about Burton being worth the scholarship, but I think we can safely pull Suggs in as a preferred walk-on.  If not that, I say we grayshirt him.

Wow, I can't believe nobody else has offered!  He sounds like the next Quincy Morgan/T Newman, but probably a lot better and faster and with better hands and leg muscles.

Great pick up.

townie fact...pinkie suggs used to bomb softballs out of red diamond into the parking lot which little rick daris would then grab and return to the snack bar and exchange for a fifteen cent ticket to get jolly ranchers.
