Is it just me, or is our 2024 recruiting surprisingly weak given our recent success?  What's the dealio, yo?

We had huge freshman classes in '22 and '23 with a ton of red shirts and not many transfers so the coaches planned on the '24 class being transfer heavy. Klieman set the stage for this all the way back to the press conference announcing the '23 class.

Following up on this, we signed a total of 40 high schoolers in '22 & '23 and only 7 of them have transferred. I noticed that we also signed 15 high schoolers in '22 and 25 in '23, so maybe they're going to sign big high school classes every other year?

Probably a solid plan, depending on the transfer numbers.

Signing day is next week. These transfers aren't going to be replaced by early signees

someone on kso did a breakdown of transfers in and out under HCCK

vast majority of guys leaving went down a step or more.  Like few, if any the last 4 years have gone on and had much success at all other places.

I don't think we're going to miss a lot of the guys leaving...

4 star WR Trae Davis to the Cats. Between Rivals and On3 services that's four 4-stars out of what, 13 commits? And the 2nd nationally rated transfer tackle.The Avery effect I guess.

We're also getting a walk on that is coming on a Native American Scholarship or something.  He had offers from a lot of P5.  Also a big time wrestler

Haven’t seen anything about when he’s planning to choose, but still hoping we can land Jayshawn Ross. After that maybe try for a couple more project skill position players (some predictions we end up flipping the RB Rice from Hawaii) then use the portal to fill the roster

Glad we're getting some guys.

This is totally selfish on my part, but keeping up with the portal stuff is like traditionally recruiting but on roids, it's so hard to keep track of it all. I like that guys can be more fluid with the places they play, it's just so much more harder to tell who we will or won't have next year.
