If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

We've invested at an all time high under Klieman. They literally had an article about it this year.So the investing part isn't the issue. I think he's going to kick ass in the transfer portal again, so i'm not worried about recruting and I always get a good laugh out of the people who do.

You should have a new all time high every year or you're falling behind. Either way, I'd like to read the article if you could post it, please. Would be greatly appreciated.
Here you go:

(Dollars spent on recruiting at start of fiscal year out of 51 Power Five programs featured in article / Recruiting finish according to 247 Sports)

    2007: 3rd / 35th
    2008: 1st / 36th
    2009: 10th / 70th -- Snyder

*2022 class remains in progress

It just hit me. That article claims we were top 10 in spending 4 years in a row from 07-10, and spent the most money in the country on the 2008 class. Well, those are classes that went on to make a Cotton Bowl and Fiesta Bowl appearance.

Now I will forever claim we need to SPEND MORE MONEY.

Context. Here are those class rankings
2007-  38
2008- 27
2009- 92
2010- 63
About that '08 class, there were 4 four star recruits, all of them were juco transfers. The current staff has done a very good job with transfers, I don't know that it's fair to hold the 2008 class up to something this staff can't do just because rivals rated juco players but they don't now score NCAA transfers. Those four players by the way were Daniel Thomas, Aubrey Quarles, Ulla Pomele, and Daniel Calvin. One stud, one solid contributor, one guy who played but didn't produce, and one who did nothing.

I'm guessing they didn't need to spend all that money to get Brandon Banks, DT, and Collin Klein.

More context, we spent a ton of money in that era because, if you recall, Prince did a ton of gray shirts so those first two classes had 33 and 34 signees. I wonder what the figure per signee was.

To add to this, since that 2008 season, I believe every ESPN 4* has washed out, never seeing the field.

Hopefully Rubley works out but we don’t have much of a record of success there.

Serious question from a guy with low recruiting IQ. Who was the last guy we recruited as a HS stud and actually turned into a college stud?
Probably Duke Shelley.

That's right. Deuce Green was also a 4 star with a crap load of offers. I think by the end of next year his overall impact on the program will be similar if not better than Duke, we'll see about the NFL, I guess.

That's good, the former players on twitter were not happy with KU making the first offer.

Yeah I remember landing green being a big deal. He’s definitely lived up to the hype.

not weird at all

i think he had a South Dakota and Washburn offer (most of you would have freaked had we offered earlier)

KU came in and forced the issue (smart play actually)

KSU would have had him as a PWO had they not

Not knowing anything about him other than the fact that he's Joe's kid, I would have been fine if we never offered and I hope we didn't offer just because KU did. I'm assuming we didn't even offer a walk-on spot to Klieman's kid since he's going to KWC.

Nice departure from what happened with Tate.

Pretty sure he's throwing a bone to those local-ish schools by listing them as a possibility, but he saw the sexy KSU brings when we played. As good as ours I think.

Picked Washington State

I'm shocked that the KSU catz were out-recruited by a subpar P5 team. SHOCKED

So we're still doing the thing where we expect to land every target and will meltdown when we don't?

Super weird that a west coast dude picked a Pac 12 school instead of the one non Pac 12 school on his list.

At least they secured a qb with a chance to be non embarrassing offensively.  DT and LB are the ones I have least confidence in, they seem to be nails at all things DB related so not worried there.

Why is it acceptable not to melt down over every recruit who chooses some shitty team over us? I still can't get over the ISU statistic. Our fans deserve mediocrity because that's what we are willing to accept.
