I guess my point is that Ertz is sounding a lot like Sam Johnson right now.

Fair enough, though Johnson wasn't player of the year in the state nor did he break multiple state records. Plus Johnson was tiny. I don't know that Ertz will be good or even start a game at K-State, but I don't think Johnson is a very good comparison.

It is mostly that Ertz is getting a lot if talk without having every playing, and probably won't live up to it.

But you have a good point. I am officially switching it to "optimistic" about Ertz.

I think its fair to be cautious.

The Johnson hype was a bit strange; Sndyer talked about him going into the 2012 season and I think the beat writers went with it. Then Snyder offers him a scholarship (after the Fiesta bowl) and in May Johnson decides to give up football so he could have more time to pursue being a dentist.

Wasn't Dunn pretty much a statue?   Ertz put up pretty solid rushing stats in HS.
