Frantz eval from espn scout:
Size/strength/athleticism:
Frantz dominates his present level of competition as a run blocker; possesses the size, strength and athleticism for the power conference level of play; his frame should be able to support additional bulk over time. We see a prospect who plays on his feet, showing the balance and agility needed to handle change of direction and tight space movement.
Pass Protection:
His reach and active hands are positives; demonstrates the ability to play from a three point stance, showing the nimble feet needed to stay in front and recover when in trouble; does a good job short setting to control straight on power moves; can bend and slide to the deep set point without getting over extended. Although all aspects of hand use need refinement, we like his punch and effort to keep the hands inside.
Run Blocking:
This guy is a tough run blocker who comes off the ball hard and aggressive; plays with a good fit and balanced blocking base; flashes the ability to knock defenders back on their heels. Does a good job blocking angles, showing the foot quickness needed to gain and sustain an advantage. This lineman shows both pull/trap and second level ability vs. linebackers; is very effective playing on his feet in space.
Toughness:
We see a very tough competitor who does an outstanding job of finishing blocks; appears to enjoy punishing defenders well down the field.
Bottom Line:
Frantz is a very physical run and pass blocker; if a red shirt year is not deemed necessary, he could provide depth at the tackle spot.
