Yes, I think OSU, is a good comparison.  Ag schools, smaller fanbases, new shiny stuff.  I'd be happy with no 5 stars, 2-3 4 stars, and about 15 3 stars, and 2-3 2 stars every year.

This is like when Rage Against The McKee was asking why the Royals couldn't sign Max Scherzer. You're very new at this.

CJ online with a little snitbit on trey dishon

At 6-3 and 305 pounds, Dishon is hard to ignore, but playing at Class 3A Horton he slipped through the recruiting cracks.

“I was never on the radar,” Dishon said. “I never went to the Rivals camps or any of the camps or combines or that kind of stuff. I sent out film to everybody, but that was about it.”

The only interest he received was from NCAA Division II, NAIA and junior college programs, and he made an oral commitment to Northwest Missouri State. Two weeks ago, his life changed through social media.

“Coach Taylor Braet, K-State’s recruiting coordinator, followed me on Twitter and I followed him back,” Dishon said. “We started talking and he said he was going to send a coach up to see me.”

Wildcats assistants Mo Latimore and Mike Cox went to Horton on Jan. 23 and during that visit put Dishon on the phone with Snyder, who extended the offer.

“I told them I wasn’t interested in walking on,” Dishon said, “but they said, no, they were offering me a scholarship. To be able to play for a program like K-State in your home state is pretty cool.”

Dishon was All-Class 3A and selected to play in the Shrine Bowl, earning two stars from Rivals. During his senior season he had 47 tackles (31 solo) with 10 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 18 hurries, two blocked punts and one blocked field goal. He played tight end on offense, catching 11 passes for 196 yards.

this stud just screams motivation.  exactly the type of ditr we're looking for.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't have a couple 4 stars each year.

Yeah.

Especially if he says something like "this class isn't a bunch of 4 and 5 star guys, but its a talented class that Snyder will turn into winners. Don't be surprised if K-State isn't competing for a Big 12 title again in 2-3 years again."

Recruiting underneath Bill's return:

2010: #63        2- 4*'s (Adam Davis & Demarcus Robinson)
2011: #69        -All 3 stars or below
2012: #59        1- 4* (Marquez Clark)----NOPE
2013: #66        2- 4*'s (Nick Ramirez & Tanner wood)...... NOPE &  :dunno:
2014: #47        2- 4*'s (Dvonta and Clinck)..... NOPE &  :dunno:
2015: #54        1- 4* (Shelley)

do this for the DOD too.
It's hard to do, because Rivals started in like 2002.

It'd be nice. It'd give us a top 30ish class. Which is something we've never had, so it'd be a little foolish to expect.

we've never had it because it's the same people recruiting.  with the facilities and the success we've had, there's no reason we shouldn't be recruiting in the 30's.

A few classes were in the 30s per Rivals. Tho none according to Scout. Rivals goes back to the late 90s, but it was relaunched in 2002 so its earlier rankings aren't easily found.

That wiki page sucks and there's lots of mistakes in the rankings. I've done my homework this morning. it's the only thing that kept me from blowing up on my boss for messing something up of mine. trust me.

K-state fans: "Jesus! Is it so hard to recruit some 5 and 4*'s from time to time? Our coaching staff sucks".

K-State fans when we recruited those kids: "Those rivals ranking were totally whack back then. They were just handing out 5 to 4 * rankings".

I will say and without trying to sound too tucky here. There's something about those big time recruits not working out here. Whether it be, they feel like they should be treated differently or something else, a lot of them don't buy in. Arthur and Harper seemed like they bought in after transferring in and not working out at previous places. Obviously, Bryce never bought in and quit because he didn't want to block for Klein.

that's not the point.  This year, there were probably 3 or so juco guys who got 5 stars.  Back in the day, rivals would give out 5 stars to like 20 guys because they weren't sure how to rate juco guys.  Therefore the 5 stars we had back then, if using the same star system of now, would most likely have been 3 or 4 stars, with a couple still remaining 5 stars (like frank murphy).
