Also, Clinkscales apparently got an offer from Ohio State.

Gates claims the tOSU offer isn't legit.

Sounds like he will visit Nebraska and Texas Tech, however.

Eh, either way.  That's going to be a long battle that we probably don't win.

Yeah, 24/7 doesn't have a single crystal ball pointing K-State's direction. I really don't think we are on his radar, probably just wanted to have a good weekend with his garden city bros in Manhattan.

Bill doesn't give a living crap about stuff like that. He knew that guy killed someone when he offered him. He only rescinded it when he felt the heat.

I think he legitimately thinks he can help them too. Its not just to win. But mostly to win.

Also, you'll recall that Bill flunked out of mizzou when he was that age. He may have a soft spot for kids doing stupid things.

Comparing the info on recruits between rivals, espn, and 247 is really interesting. 247 has some guys warm on K-state, that I haven't even heard of . Like this guy: http://247sports.com/Player/Sekou-Clark-18710 . He played behind Mario Edwards Jr, and he apparently is suppose to be a stud but the offers aren't there?

247 is the best database, hands down.  That's my go-to.

24/7 seems like if goEMAW decided to do national recruiting coverage and had, like, 2 days to slap it together.

Likely a defensive lineman club/rip drill. One player puts his hands on to simulate a block from an offensive lineman, the other player has to club down or rip up through the hands and then perform a move to rush the quarterback or play the run, etc.

Looking back on the past few years, we suck at instate also, just this year it seems the talent pool is a tad larger. Missing out on Swain really hurts.

Kinda ITK on this one.

The old HC at Olathe north, Pete Flood liked KSU. However, the assistants under him felt like KSU didn't give some of their previous studs much of a look (victor simmons, james franklin etc..) even when north tried to get their attention. So they would end up at KU or Pitt State. The new (returning, old HC) guy Weir listens to the assistants more and gives KSU a much colder shoulder when they come knocking.

So yeah, faking interest in players we don't actually want would probably go a long way in getting ones that we do want. Errol Clark sounds like the same deal.

I've never really understood all this. I mean, if I was a HS stud athlete, I'd give my coach a courtesy listen, but I'm going where I want.

Maybe things have changed, but not that long ago, HS coaches were just dumbass teachers that wanted an extra $2-$3k salary and didn't have crap to do immediately after school.

I don't know anyone in any sport that had a close relationship with their coach, let alone listen to what said shop teacher said about what higher education system someone should attend.

I don't think it has to do with a coach saying "Hey kid, don't go to KSU".

Probably more of a "KSU coach wanted to stop by after practice to see a kid but I told them we didn't want any distractions before state but its totally cool if the mizzou or KU coach wants to stop by"

I would think that would be a fire-able offense for a coach to pull some crap like that.

No, its the same everywhere but the biggest high school programs. Olathe N is a lil different though. If you went to a crappy 4a ks school like me you got a shop teacher

my dad was shocked (pleasantly) when he found out how much they paid coaches in some of the metro areas compared to little "a" schools.
