i may have undervalued the influence of the tucks.  they were definitely on #teamcurrie in this whole frank vs currie war.  frank is gone, and currie is still employed.

but nobody wields the tucks like LHC Bill Snyder.  nobody.

In Kelis' live chat, it was mentioned the Eustachy asked to be considered, and he was mushed.

Because we're already negotiating with Tadpoyle I'm sure.

Really don't understand the dislike for Tad.  Clownsuited Frank three times last year and won 48 games in the past two seasons.  Beat 6-seed UNLV in the 1st round of the NCAA's this year and has two 4-star recruits on board at Colorado.  What's not to like?  The fact that he graduated from KU?

You know better than to think it has anything to do with him going to KU.

_FAN likened him to Jim Wooldridge. That's enough for me.

I don't see any similarity to Jim Wooldridge.  If I had to make a comparison I'd go with Kevin Stallings at Vanderbilt.

So he's an Altman type? Altman was a juco guy brought on for Mitch, right? How'd that work out for us?

not sure but at first glance i'd say Mitch went on to be baller in the league, could be wrong though

How'd it work out for us when Altman was then promoted to HC.

Altman wasn't promoted. He had left for Marshall the year before.  He had just turned 30, he had a porn stache, and he stomped up and down the sidelines like Ron Prince asshat. He didn't know what he was doing. It could have been far worse and Altman has proven to at least be decent since then.

45 year old Underwood isn't comparable to the 30 year old JUCO coach we hired 22 years ago.

So your argument is basically that Altman of Today would be a decent hire. I vehemently disagree.

VEHEMENTLY.

altman was really young at the time and known as a recruiter. a poor mans josh pastner really. who is it that you want kougs?

Pffffft

Currie (while texting someone else): Hey Brad, you want the job?

Brad: Sure

Currie (never looking up the entire time): Ok its yours.  Just make sure you stay under budget.

I would put Altman on the same level as Tad Boyle or Tim Jankovich. Probably just ahead of them because he has a lot more experience as a HC.

Don't use this argument. It's why tucks will never allow us to hire a black man again.

Bill Reiter:

Made calls today & heard this doozy: Frank Martin, while trying to decide what to do, was told by LHC LHC LHC Bill Snyder he should "get the hell out."

Wish my gut reaction to Bill hating Currie wasn't to actually respect Currie a little bit more. Not even in the same way Currie wished he hadn't seen the receipt.

All three would be decent hires.  Jank has done a really good job at Illinois State, and he can recruit.  Not sure why you guys hate pretty much every viable candidate, but as I've pointed out before, you won't be satisfied with anyone that isn't Frank.  You're setting your next coach up for failure if that's the case.

I've had 3 KU fans say we should hire Jank. It is hilarious. We would ever hire him and no one else has tried to hire him away from elite Illinois State, but you guys should def hire him.

Yeah, who wants a Bill Self assistant who won a national title at Kansas and recruited a sh*tload of talent to Lawrence.  Not to mention the guy has ties to K-State and a great reputation in states like Illinois and Texas.  Nah, better go with Underwood.

I'll say Boyle>>>>>Jank.

My issue with Jank is he's been at Ill St for five years and hasn't made one NCAA tournament. Not one. He finished last in the league last year. I just don't see the track record that says he's going to win at a BCS school. The ONLY reason he is even being mentioned is because he went to K-State, its not like he's been sought after by a bunch of other BCS schools while he's been there.

Beems, please site specific examples of players that Jank was the lead recruiter on while at ku.  Not the co-lead, not the guy who made a few calls or sent a letter, the lead recruiter responsible for securing the on campus visit etc. etc.

Your Friend,

Dax

Why do people say Jank can recruit? Who has he brought to Illinois State? KU recruits itself so throw that out.

The next person that mentions Jankovich gets their account deleted.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Was very close this year and in '08-09.  K-State needed overtime to beat Illinois State at home a few years ago in the NIT.  Not saying Jank would be my first choice, but JFC, you guys act like he'd be worse than hiring Underwood.
