It is going to be no one with ties to KSU.  That was Wefald and our tucks who think we can only win with KSU people.  Currie will hire from outside the family, especially if he is wanting to make a homerun hire and leave.  Why would he care if he hires a guy that will leave in 5 years if he himself wants to leave?  Plus coaches are just up for rent, no one will stick around unless you are Duke, UNC, KU or Kentucky.

If we hire henson or jank I will bring the gas can...

Pros: He will keep the team together, may even hold Upshaw
He knows the league, opposing coaches
He knows the donors and I guess they like the
Cheap enough so Currie can put away more rainy day money
Keeping him would be biggest way for Currie to fire a huge shot in his war with Frank.

If its a Jank/Henson type, Currie may as well keep Underwood and try to maintain as much as the current program as possible. I don't think he'll do that.

My standard is to at least make an attempt to replace what Frank was; a solid coach who was going to get you upper half league finishes and NCAA tournaments. There simply aren't a lot of guys like that out there that K-State could get. Looking around college basketball, I'm talking about guys like Stallings, Mack, Dunphry, or even Pastner or Cronin. Unfortunately, I think for K-State a somewhat proven guy who isn't necessarily a league winning coach is probably out of our league, unless Currie is willing to throw out $2.5 mil a year or something like that.

The prospects for us just look pretty bleak and the odds of catching an extremely fortunate break like we did with Martin seem slim.

who knows what Undies is capable of at this point. It was his system that saved the last two seasons.  I know frank's "MOVE!!!!!" coaching is critical for its implamentation, but who knows what the guy can do.

you forget that Currie and Shultz aren't Wefald.  They won't make a rash hire to try and keep what we have here.  I've been told that the entire staff is going with Martin.  I rate my source as B.

CC, a couple of questions –

Does currie understand the situation he’s in?  I mean, does he really understand how difficult this is going to be?  Or does he think he'll be able to hire whomever he wants?

Why doesn’t currie fight?  I mean, does he understand what frank is doing?  Regardless of my feelings towards currie, Frank’s throwing haymakers and Currie appears to be straightening his tie.

Don't know. My guess is thatCurrie will ply it very close to the vest, will be very quiet. Have a pretty good idea who it won't be, I think. But I might find out more today.

Sorry I haven't been on to post the last day or two. I haven't read all the posts, but I assume it has been tough around here. Not sure if this will help you guys, but maybe it will once you calm down a bit: be patient, let some things happen, you may feel better about everything. #teamkstate
