FWIW, I talked to a student athlete today who said that every student athlete is tested once a month. They confirmed the warning, 10% of games, dismissed from team punishments that I posted a while back.

I don't know if this is common knowledge, I just didn't see it posted anywhere in this thread.

You know who is laughing their collective asses off at us right now . . . the cool, beautiful people at Colorado, that's who.

That's a really bad picture to attempt to enhance your point.  A lot of ugly people and tyedye in that picture.  And what's with the guy in the Duke t-shirt with the back fat?

That's what the "people" in Boulder have looked like every time I've been there.   :barf:

never understood the goEMAW "people in boulder are pretty" stereotype  :dunno:

BITB played quotes from today's Frank interview with Seth Davis. Pretty much said Curt is part of the team and mentioned the key players to the rest of the season are he and Jamar.

Stay tuned...

"part of the program" is a great way of saying "he's not dismissed...yet".

I don't remember the exact words, but he wasn't just saying that. Especially when he went on to talk about Kelly (with Samuels) being the key players for the rest of the season when asked who the key was from here on out. Also talked about how much better they had played since Curt and Jamar have been playing together.

It seems like (based on prior coachspeak this season) if he wasn't part of the team, or was suspended frank wouldn't talk about him at all (unless to inform he was dismissed).

for example
Quote
"let's talk about the guys that played!!!"
and such

Since we're dragging out the old uk favs, I recall Aquib Talib admitting to pissing hot 3 times while at uk...

It is a FACT that Talib confessed at the NFL combine for having failed three drug tests, all for pot.  He never missed a game as a result.

I don't know, i kinda remember Mangina suspending him for a game or two in 06.  Not sure if related or not but i remember hearing the reason was a failed test.  But no, we would never kick a kid off a team for smoking some pot.  Or for assault or any other crime for that matter.  Unless you stab yourself, then your gone.
Actually I was good friends with the associate AD at the time.  His quote to me was "he beat up somebody on the track team...that happened to be a girl."

Come to think of it, beating up women seems to be a theme with KU athletes.  Not sure I'm on board with MCMW if it means pussies who hit women.  :dunno:

I agree. I'd stop being a fan actually if we had a theme of women beaters on the team that continued to play. Or contribute heavily to Billboards and Plane banners to call out those that let it happen.

Dax or others in the know of financial workings of things, how concrete is the money for the practice facility?  Is it a done deal that a disastrous finish to this season with corresponding drop in ticket sales, would not stop it?  Is it all private money?

I know for a fact bids from GC's are currently being accepted.  I'd say that's a pretty good indication the money is lined up.

That is pretty much how I heard it.

I have no knowledge of the inner workings of the department (for the most part), nor do I know the existing positions of the parties involved.

I will say this...

If Currie is leaning towards dropping Curtis indiscriminately because he failed the policy, he is not going to be the kind of AD that's going to succeed at a larger program.  He may be good at raising money, and he may be good at connecting with his fans, but at some point, when you close the doors of your office, and you have the big boy discussions about how to deal with 'the talent', it's not black and white.  In athletics, like ANY business in the world, some people are more valuable than others, and sometimes, you have to put up with some crap.

There are lines that need to be drawn.  You can't beat women.  You can't go around and physically assault people over and over again.  You can't commit a felony.

However, if we're talking misdemeanors, let's get real; if you're a financial company, you aren't going to fire your whiz kid because he gets busted for smoking weed a few times if he's making you a lot of money.  Rules are not rules for everyone.  If you're really, really valuable, they're guidelines.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.

Why not? We recruit nothing but quality youngsters who need sports in their life. I say we give them 3 strikes, and after that, leave their fate at the discretion of the athletic department.
