South! Classier peeps, and Hilton Head is the bomb.com. Better barbeque, kevin garnett, vanna white, andy dick, further south (obviously), etc.

North. I once stepped on a stingray in myrtle beach and I've hated SC ever since. It was so gross and slimy.

The low country in South Carolina is awesome. The Outer Banks in North Carolina is great, and Western North Carolina is > Western South Carolina.

And nothing called Carolina BBQ is really BBQ . . . in Eastern North Carolina the pepper and vinegar "BBQ" makes for a tasty sandwich, in South Carolina they prefer the Mustard "BBQ" and that's just flat nasty.
