A good recruiter can overcome any possible real (or imagined) shortcomings KSU has to KU, MU, OSU, ISU, BU, TT, etc.

Wishful thinking! Not true.

No, it's true.  This is a people business.  Accepting inferiority is a lame excuse/rationalization for sucking and being lazy.

Yea I can't understand why people just give up and say well our school is nestled amongst the farmers and cows guess we will just have to settle for the DITR types and hope for the best.  Many top 50 recruiting classes have been put together here and it can be done again.

ALL the schools I mentioned are surrounded by farmers and cows.

Location is overplayed as far as our conference is concerned with exception to Texas schools. Besides Austin, most of the towns and locations are between nothing special and poopy. Facilities/tradition/image are out biggest obstacles.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

Having a lazy, out-of-touch staff that hates recruiting is an even bigger obstacle IMO.

True. My statement was based on "all coaches being equal" type thought.

Facilities/tradition/image are big obstacles, but not as big as the distance between Manhattan and the talent.  When you have no tradition and image to draw kids to travel long distances you're just one more second class option competing for limited official visits.  The more difficult it is to get there for that visit, the less likely a kid will want to take it, especially when you are dealing with the "image" issue.

Again, it isn't more difficult for KSU to get recruits in than it is ISU, MU, KU, and OSU.  Tech is arguable.  Yeah, it's in Texas, but it's in west Texas.

Have you seen the facilities they've built/are building in Stillwater? We're not beating them in recruiting anytime soon.

rusty is probably the most logical poster here. the only times that he is wrong (which isn't often) are the times that he disagrees w/ me or i disagree w/ him. a good rule of thumb would be to just agree w/ rusty all of the time and disagree w/ him only when i do. hth.
