Am I the only one who prefers not to have CarPlay running? I like my gps on my phone, and typically prefer my dash not to be covered in giant screens.

Probably

For reference I drive a 2013 VW CC (6-speed manual) and a 2009 Ford Focus. Both have Bluetooth, which I appreciate. The VW has an unobtrusive touch screen. The Ford has a small screen with lights kind of like an alarm clock.

Both have old school rpm, speedometer etc, and some digital info readouts.

Mrs Nicname drives a new Hyundai Palisade. I can hardly stand to get behind the wheel of that thing, with all the modern features.

Seems like it always drains my battery. I avoid it.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

Ha, Mrs SF is the exact same. Unless it is specifically for GPS, she hates seeing the CarPlay screen. So much so that, I am in her car like 2% of the time and when I'm in there, the wireless CarPlay is hooked to my phone every time. She likes new cars, but wishes they all just had old school knobs and switches. Its rough ridin' weird.
I don't think that's weird at all. Touch screens suck and are dangerous for driving. More knobs and buttons please

Is there a group of people in the world more willing to get abused more than iPhone users. There's going to be a time when we look back at the early 21st century and our grandkids are going to laugh at the tens to hundreds of millions of people who shelled out so much more money for such an inferior product.

How many apps can you keep on your phone before you have to start deleting crap? 30, 40?

I think Google Fi with a cheap android is tough to beat here. Depends on what kind of coverage and data you need, though. Someone like straighttalk might be cheaper.

I don't really understand why you would opt for anything other than an iPhone. The apple ecosystem is so much better than anything else available.

I broke down and bought a MacBook Pro for work, and a couple months later an iPhone (I had had an iPhone before, so no learning curve). Pretty nifty. Over a year later, I'm still learning things about how to use MacOS, as Windows is hardwired into my brain. Once you're in the walled garden, it's a pretty beautiful garden. Some aspects of the Mac version of Office are frustrating, though.

yeah, that's the thing. it all just works together and works perfectly. like, when I got my first iphone and macbook I was freaking out because i had no idea what folder my photos were saved in or whatever. or where is stuff in the cloud and how do I get it from my computer to my phone? then it was always jsut there and now I know I don't need to know any of that crap and apple just takes care of it for me.

just went thru this for myself as my iPhone 6 just wouldn't hold out until the 15s show up so I bought this $250 from Best Buy and it seems decent

also so they don't get dunked on by their friends for destroying the group chat by not having imessage.

This is so true. My family is too poor for iPhones but we scraped up some cash to get some cheap refurbished iPhones so they wouldn't be outcasts.

(Although my daughter is now running a group chat for her swim team using WhatsApp, because she's inclusive of all and also very worldly)
