I want to get a new phone in the next 60 days or so. I've currently got a iPhone 4s and I'd like to stay with the ios/apps I know, but is the Galaxy s5 so much better that I should consider it?

Seems like the i6 specs were kinda underwhelming. No waterproofing or scratchproof screen, so you've still got to wrap it up in a case and screen protector. Smaller, lower rez screen. More expensive.

What would you do?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

The iphone 6 plus actually has a larger screen than the s5.

Yeah I don't want a "phablet." 5-inch screen is right about where I want to be, so either the i6 or s5 would be fine size-wise. But in that 5 inches, the Samsung has a true 1080 screen, whereas the i6 is only 720. Not sure if that difference in resolution is even really discernable on a 5 inch screen, though. I'm also hearing that the i6 camera is probably significantly better than the s5's despite being half the mps.

I'm mainly annoyed by the lack of waterproofing, since that's something Samsung has been sporting for a while and it seems like a real risk for me.

Why settle for 5" when 5.5" is available?  When I pull out my device, I want to hear onlookers remark, "omg, is that thing 5.5 inches?!"  :Wha:

I've had the HTC M8 for a little over a week now, and it is awesome. I had a HTC One X (initial generation) prior, so it was a significant upgrade in computing power.

The load times are 1/4 as much as they were before if not less...this is both the loading of saved materials (apps) and when DL'ing stuff.

Screen is VERY reactive, I believe it 'set the record' for quickest reaction time of any touch screen device, there is no delay whatsoever

The only issue I have is the most complained about issue, & that is there is a 1/4" black bezel on the bottom of the phone that is visibly nothing other than the HTC logo, so it makes one handed use of reaching the top the screen 1/4" harder...HTC has stated that area is needed internally for hardware, so it was unavoidable.

I'd recommend it though, and I really expected to move to the GS5, but when I used them both side by side @ AT&T store, the S5 didn't stack up in areas referenced above

 :Wha:

I like you also had the One X.  I was pretty pleased with the phone, but had decided to give the GS5 a chance because I kept hearing how great it was.  While at the AT&T store I had a 2 hour wait to upgrade.  During that time I played with the M8 during that time and absolutely loved it.  Also, HTC fixed my main issue with the One X, and now allows expandable memory.  I believe you can go up to 192GB's on this phone.  I decided to go with the M8.  I got the phone on Sunday and am extremely happy with my decision.

  • The phone is extremely responsive and the screen is very bright and looks fantastic.
  • I like the metal chassis and overall look of the phone.
  • I thought that I wouldn't care about the speakers being on the front, but after trying out the speaker phone it just makes a lot sense.  Additionally, the speakers are really loud, and still have great sound quality
I would recommend that anyone looking to purchase a new phone at least checks this one out.

sprint has the lowest pricing for the note edge of the major carriers
will be ~$400 on contract which i think is +$100 over the note 4

it's really really cool though, the edge operates independent of the main screen.  as i indicated before, this is a prosumer device.
